MonteSS
Here is why I use them. Transparent baits that show color and flake great. Same softness and sink rate as real Senko but more durable. I can even make clear baits.

Where do you get your glass beads, and are there any dos/dont's in using them?
MonteSS
Ebay. Abrasive Armory.#8 (70-100) Mix into unheated plastic well. Then heat as normal. No lumps at all and suspends great

FATFLATTIE
Is this similar to what you use Monte?? http://m.harborfreight.com/50-lbs-glass-bead-80-grit-abrasive-media-61874.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

FATFLATTIE
I have been using the HDA from Do-It and I LOVE the quality of the baits it produces but its pretty dang expensive. Have tried salt recently and will defintbe trying the beads at some point. Have you used the HDA before? Just wondering what the durability is compared to the HDA, that's my favorite part about that stuff is I can get up to 5-6 fish per bait even wacky rigged with no o-ring. MonteSS
The cost of the glass beads compared to salt is negligible. Glass beads are maybe 10 cents per pack. Not a killer for me. I was one of the first to use HD when Jason made it. I love the stuff but the grey cloudiness is a drag. Plastic does not bond to salt and that is why they are weak. It does seem to bond to the beads and the HD. Baits with beads are similar durability to HD. I use an Oring and regularly catch 20+ bass on one stick Edited August 3, 2016 by MonteSS
Yo Al
I would advise everyone to not get glass bead from Harbor Freight. Their newer stock of it is crushed glass not beads. One of my injectors is very gouged from using the crushed glass. I switched to glass bead from Amazon. It is much easier on the injector and makes a much clearer bait than the Harbor Freight stuff.
mark poulson
Yo Al, Thank you. I've been using the stuff from Harbor Freight and have not gotten the clarity that Monte's baits have. Now I know why! And I hear it scratching my injector when I use it. Big Ray, I'm sorry if the stuff I gave you isn't good. Could you post a link to the Amazon source? MonteSS
What I use and it does scratch the injector piston pretty good. I always mix beads into uncooked plastic http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-LBS-Glass-Bead-Medium-Grit-MIL-SPEC-8-70-100-grit-Sand-Blasting-Abrasive-/111672165459?hash=item1a002e0453:g:VocAAOxydgZTKU6c Edited August 3, 2016 by MonteSS
gone2long
Yes be sure its glass bead and not glass abrasive as that is the crushed glass media that is causing the problem, does harbor freight packaging advertise their material as glass bead? It sure makes a scratching noise when I inject it, and my colors are not clear at all.
Yo Al
The stuff I bought from Harbor Freight says glass bead on the box and I had the same results as Mark. The one I bought from Amazon was from American Abrasive Supply-#80 mesh. Check out reviews on Harbor Freight for their glass beads. There are a lot of complaints that they switched to crushed glass at some point and still sell it as beads

emptystringer81
Monte do you ever have any problems with the beads scratching your injector? I tried using 1/4 cup bead media and cup of plastic a while back and my injector jammed up. would not move. Got it apart but had to beat it apart. Really scratched my injector, But I sanded and polished it out so it works good now. May have not had it mixed well or my beads was too course. I ordered those from ebay and when i try to compare the bead media you use to the kind I got from work its hard to tell a difference. But they are so tiny lol. Your baits look great thanks for sharing.
MonteSS
As said the beads I used and linked scratch my piston pretty badly. Still works fine tho
