littleriver 81 Posted August 27, 2012 Report Share Been working with this prototype for about 6 weeks now. So many variables to wrestle with here it was a real challenge. Quote Link to comment

JBlaze 103 Posted August 27, 2012 Report Share Great footage, I believe you have this one figured out. Does it hunt at all retrieve speeds? Your finish on this one looks perfect. Six weeks, don't think I could bring myself to even throw it for feat that a big ole bucket mouth would steal it from me. :-) Quote Link to comment
littleriver 81 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Thanks John. The finish on these baits is getting better if I may say so myself. It does hunt at all speeds. Shade, thank you. I do carve nearly all my shapes with a carving knife. Some are rough cut out on a bandsaw, then rounded with the knife. While others I am cutting straight from the block of wood with a knife. This one was rough cut with the bandsaw, then rounded and finished with the knife. The shape I have to thank my friend Dieter for. Thank you Dieter!!! Quote Link to comment
streamdancing 1 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Excellent job...this from a guy that has been trying to figure out how to do one myself! Was it difficult to find the tail components? Quote Link to comment
aaron4mvp 2 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Where did you buy the tail components? Quote Link to comment
littleriver 81 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Thank you streamdancing. The components were easy to find. Hobby L carries everything except the wire for the tail components. aaron not sure exactly sure which component interests you. I am going to guess the blade on the end of this bait? This one could not be bought. I made it from a flat sheet of brass. I bought mine at HL. Quote Link to comment
solarfall 96 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share great hunting action reminds me alot of pencil style trout baits that trout/salmon/zander fishermen use while trolling but whats different in the lures that they use is a saddle styled lip that almost quarantine to give a bait a irregular wobble when its been retrieved trough the water. littleriver 81 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Thank s Solarfall. Took a few go's to get this waddle bat action going. I have never seen the action of baits you refer to . Would like to see this irregular wobble. Also have never made a bait with saddle lip. I hear the saddle lip makes a good river bait. More stable but maybe not from what you say. Probably all in how one builds them. Quote Link to comment
aaron4mvp 2 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Thanks littleriver. Yes I was interested in the blade on the end of the bait. Thanks for telling me what it was made out of. I will have to try one for myself. Quote Link to comment
aaron4mvp 2 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share And what is the thickness of the blade? .025? .032? Quote Link to comment
littleriver 81 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share You will have to experiment to find the right weight to make the bait work. The thickness will vary depending on the weight needed for your bait. Quote Link to comment
Hokieangler 70 Posted October 31, 2012 Report Share Super nice! I love that action on the bait! Quote Link to comment
