Lure--Prof 12 Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Nice! That lure in that color takes me back to when I was a kid in the 1960's staring wide-eyed through the thick glass of display cases at rows of lures neatly arranged and nestled gleaming and new in their fishing scene adorned paper boxes, with prices like $1.69, plus 3% sales tax, of course. Those green and gold perch brown bars, and fades and scales, were a predominant color in many lure lines in those pre-and-early reservoir-boom days, undoubtedly because they caught fish; and soft-ray baitfish often meant suckers instead of shad. KcDano 2 Posted August 30, 2007 Report Share Thanks Dean! I have fished these old wood pikies and other old baits for a long time. In situations where there is tremendous fishing pressure these old baits can be the trick. I hear Creek Chub Bait Co just this year has re-introduced the old wood pikie, go figure! Glad to hear this adorned chunk of wood ushered you down memory lane. Kind Regards Quote Link to comment
philB 11 Posted December 13, 2008 Report Share Dan, stunning job yet again. Pikie's are my most successful lure of all time but not the jointed version, I don't know why, they just don't do the business for me . I have just bought me a lathe so I am intending to make myself some Pikies. Keep sniffing that Nitro man  Quote Link to comment
Milia B 13 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Share I know it's a dumb question but how do you repaint without messing up the glass eyes? Quote Link to comment
