Thanks for the compliments.  I'm new to the forum and I have just started painting lures. Novice at best.

Kind of wondering whether when painting lures, do fish really look for exact imitations of fish or if they are attracted to something entirely new and different.  If the latter, then the sky's the limit as far as coloring.  Any thought from anyone on this?

IMO, certain times of the year you have to grab their attention with different. But most times it's match the hatch - whatever is natural forage with a touch of flair.
