Balsa Bluegill Crankbait

Looks great..,. did you have to put quite a bit of ballast in it to reduce bouyancy? My limited experience with balsa cranks is there is too much bouyancy. After deflecting off cover it rises too quickly. 

I believe I put 5 or 6 grams in this one but the high buoyancy is part of what gives balsa baits more action. You can also sometimes let the bait float out of snags when you hit something.
