Never loose a tail popper!
Most of these topwater baits are made of balsa. However I used poplar on this bait. I find that it gives it the weight and buoyancy I need to get it out and get the right action. I used a wood lathe to get nice shape and a bur to carve out a perfect mouth. I could went all out with paint job doing scales which are cool but not needed. The piece separates from rest is tail. Which is a skirt I use for jigs and spinners. I find it to be a lot more durable then feathers.
