m_vandorn 52 Posted November 1, 2015 Report Share I forgot to add that the head of the cicada is the cap to the battery compartment. Quote Link to comment

m_vandorn 52 Posted November 1, 2015 Report Share Thanks JRammit! I've been working on a technique for color blending using a similar process of the copic sprayer system. Actually it is very similar. I already had a small compressor and just made my own nozzle that will accommodate many different markers, such as, Sharpie and even larger ones like copic. Other than the small compressor that I already had, the nozzle only cost $17 to make. These cicada were painted using sharpie markers. Quote Link to comment
jonister 169 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Share These are really cool! I could see myself with a box full of these open on the deck of my boat trying to figure out where the vibrating noise was coming from. =D What is your clearcoat? it must have to be really thin so it doesnt sink the lures. m_vandorn 52 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Share The good thing about these vibrating lures is, you can stop the vibration by loosening the cap/head slightly. Doing so, disengages the battery from the motor contacts. I can tell you though, the vibrating sound does catch attention of people I show them to. There first reaction, when I had one to them is to drop it. Weight is, in fact, an issue when making these. It took me several months to figure out how to reduce the weight of the components in the motor compartment. The clear coat I use is Devcon 2Ton. While I do work to assure the coat is not to heavy, I'd say there is plenty enough remaining to assure the lure is strong enough to handle a good amount of abuse. Quote Link to comment
Curt - NC 312 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Share Can't wait to have some of these in my boat to try! Quote Link to comment
m_vandorn 52 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Share Just a few more days before I have some available. Today I am busy working on my honey-do-list. I will be molding, painting and clear coating lures tomorrow. Then all I need to do is update my website. I'll let you know when they are ready. Quote Link to comment
