Wakin em' up

If you have never made, or even used wake baits, they are so much fun to tinker with! I have yet to get out and actually fish this but I got to make some test casts at the river before work and it swims amazing. I find you can tune the wobble but tightening or loosening the screw eye joint.

I find I can really take my time on bigger baits, carving on and off throughout the week when I have the time makes it more enjoyable. When I don't force myself to finish something too soon, I get a bait that runs better, and is more fun to make. It is cedar carved, and has a circuit board bill. KBS clear coated.

Thanks! I'm fairly new to it as well, but I've learned you do not want a heavy wood or other material, as that will bring the bait down in the water. Also try lip position at a 90 degree for best action without dive.

Thanks jonister, fshng2.

I like eastern red cedar. It's easy to work, finishes beautifully, not too soft, and easy to weight. Besides, it smells great!

It does smell great.

I have used it for decking posts and didn't notice many knots if any. Another plus for making lures.
