In memory of last summer’s bass, I handcrafted this huge hinged small mouth Bass lure out of poplar with pine accents. This is the biggest lure I have ever made it’s a massive 9-3/4-inch-long 3-1/2 inches wide and weighs a stunning 6 oz. I need a new fishing pole to handle this. We named the lure “Godzilla”.

Godzilla proudly displays a custom Lexan tail and lip. It has 1-1/2-inch stainless steel eyelets and hinge. Used molded 3D real eyes that look great. Even with a solid 1-1/8 oz of weight in it’s belly there is enough wood that allows this lure to float with just the dorsal fins peeking through the surface, but when retrieving Godzilla dives displaying an amazing wiggle and shine.

Ice went out early this year, so spring fishing is underway. It’s time to exercise this lure and take our turn at catching some monsters.
