Shad Babes

Lure--Prof
 Share

Shad Babes, 4"length X 1/2"w on the top, the others are 3"L X 1/2"W, except for the clown color which is 3/8"W. All are ss thru-wire, painted with Createx, and topcoated with Dicknite's clear.

I caught a couple of 2 pound bass on 2 of these while testing, which is always an unexpected bonus where from where I test sitting in a boat slip and taking notes, especially when you've just put hooks on a bait for the first time...

Lure test under realistic conditions , 100% passed ! ! !

I like the "Clown"-colored lure best , also due to its "little unusual"(to me)body shape .

A well-done bunch of baits !

diemai, you are correct that the clown-color is a little bit different shape--I made that particular version just for foiling, with its slightly broader and flatter sides, just to get the maximum amount of side-flash.

Stacey, the one on the right is also my favorite, for the way the color pattern emerged--I took several photos of this bait, and this was by far the most accurate--the bait actually has vertical silver stripes, causing the bait to look different from every viewing angle. I'm attempting through paint layers, to give the body the illusion of a little flexing. It gave up a fat 15 incher on the first cast.

The second lure from the left, actually is the only one whose color washed out some. It is a light Tennessee shad on pearl, while the photo makes it look almost like a gray ghost. It seems odd that one lure in the 5 doesn't reveal its colors, but there ya go. Of course my little 3.2 Sony Cyber Shot is practically ancient, being 4 years old...

I really appreciate everyone's comments on the lures. We all have our own concepts of how lures should look and perform, and these represent my objectives very well. They are tools with which to catch fish, first and foremost, and I want them to achieve certain actions, and hold up through a lot of fishing, and look alive and vulnerable in the water, within the dimensions of the predators' environment. If they look good in the hand, then that is a bonus.

Thank you Jerry for TU that has given us the oppportunity for this vast knowledge pool through which we can make all our lures better!
