trap foil and repaint

I'm not big on traps usually as it wears me out cranking so fast, and foiling is a pain in the arse. But I have to say these two have been more productive for me than factory baits have been. The colors are a little different and they are a little scratched up from use (some of it is light flare versus cracks or scratches) but they have been good to me, so I am sharing.

The first is blended on the belly and cheeks with white pearl, with the nose and back in my threadfin brown, but that was oversprayed with a coat of Pearl Ex Interference purple (hard to see in the photo). The translucent yellow stripe is pearl yellow and gold mixed and thinned. Then there is a small amount of green diamond dust in the clear coat. So basically it is a threadfin look in the water. And man it looks better in the water and in their mouths! Make yourself one!

The second is more straight forward except the black back, cheeks and nose are black pearl versus straight black and the back started with a coat of silver&gold&brown pearl mixed.

It may be having to add those extra coats of epoxy that make the bait weight just that little bit more, or ??? but I look forward to the shad schooling in the shallows in the fall. And the nice part is these were free and started as a Red Face, Black body with a gold Chevy logo from the FLW expo when the Norman tournament was in town.

It almost sounds like fishing is just too much trouble!! Don't forget to stop and smell the shad along the way! :)

That interference purple is some fun stuff, and i've done a few baits by using nothing but Pearl-Ex pigments in epoxy for the color...depending on where when and how you add the pigment, you can come up with some interesting patterns.
