Did you glue in a wire screw coil at the tail to twist them onto ?

I found some sst hitch hikers, I think at Stamina or Barlows, that I epoxy into the back of the lure.

Those are the little coils with a clip on the end for attaching to a hook. The regular hitch hikers are brass, or brass plated steel, which are not as strong as the sst version.

Didn't think about such hitchhikers , unknown over here !

I made one or two lures with a similar grub attachement using homemade coils !
