jointed perch

Here is a jointed perch that i made over thanksgiving break. It is made out of basswood. it weighs about 1.5 ounces and is 7 inches long and is a inch in diameter. I tried to paint a perch pattern with scales and it didnt turn out so good:nono:, then i tried to paint some head details, that didnt turn out so good either. i am just amazed at how good at painting you guys are ( you make it look easy:eek:). the ony thing that i think turned out good on this bad boy is that it swims really well.

This is my first lipped bait and when i was doing experiments with lip size i was amazed at how much difference the size of the lip makes. my first attempt at a lip made the lure not even swim. i cut out a huge lip and to my surprise the lure actually swam:lol:.

Another thing that i need to work on is figuring out how to take pictures. Im not very good at it, can you tell:D. Last but not least i would like to thank everyone on this forum for all the help and advice that they share with people all around the world.

Nice lure , that you have made there ! It seems to be pretty light for its size , is it unweighted ?

Concerning pictures , try to play with the setting options of your camera ! I have a pretty simple and cheap one , but it has two focus settings , one for total view and one for pinpointing the object , also it has a "micro" option , to take smaller objects at a range less than 1 foot , perfect for lures .

Possibly avoid taking lures from further distance using the zoom function , the pics get out of focus that way . You may also utilize a tripod mount for the camera and its timer shooting function for close range pictures , since these takings are more prone to get out of focus due to trembling , breathing , etc .

Don't know much about photography , but this is , what I've found out !

yes diemai, the lure is weighted. I have learned the hardway when you dont put some weight in the luresdrool.gif. Another thing, the reason why the lure isnt that heavy is because it is a floater, i didnt want to add alot of lead to it to make it sink. The lure tracks and runs straight at medium speeds but once the lures starts to go fast it starts to run on its side. This is probly due to the weight i am guesing? But with the camera, ive messing around with the settings and probly still need to experiment more with it. Thanks for the advice with the camera thoughyeah.gif. Hopefully i can take pictures as good as you guys one, lol that may take a while.

Hi spoopa,

very nice stuff you made here. Thanks for the pictures and your post. Please can you tell me the position of the weights? I am interested in lures like that and you can give me an easy start! Sorry for my bad english. To much sleep at school;-) Greets, Nordmann
