6 Inch tail-bladed topwater chopper. I made the propeller from .22 gauge stainless steel. Neon homemade eyes, Amber Tiger with black cherry pearl highlights on the nose and bright orange pearl and Mayan gold pearl on the belly. I hope it gits et!:teef::teef::teef:

I like that "Amber" paint style on this one !

I may be wrong , but I assume , that the prop would have difficulties to spin properly , since it does not have any bearing bushing and the bearing hole is quite large , also it's prop blades are quite long:? .

Due to that , the pressure on the bottom-located prop blade(the opposing blade sticks up in the air , since it is a floating topwater bait) would cause leverage onto the prop , the bottom blade would then point to the rear , the top one would point forward , thus binding on its shaft and not working properly .

I went through this before , but I don't make a lot of prop baits anymore , since they don't seem to catch well over here .

But if I do , I'd make sure , that my props(homemade and shop bought ones alike)have a bearing , either by furnishing two 90

I typed a lengthy explanation of how the blade is designed and why it works. However, this forum's software won't pass a detailed explanation so I'll have to drastically shorten it...as follows:

It works great. I've built others identical to it and the muskies love 'em. The tips are bent opposite each other just like an airplane prop and there is a metal bead (which may not show in the picture) which acts as a pivot point and a "bearing."

This one isn't "tuned" yet as its is a gift to a user who is familiar with tuning these props so I'm going to leave it as is and let him tune it to his taste. Here's a link to one of the others that I built and as I say, they work great and the muskies love 'em"

@ fatfingers

Happy to hear , that it still works after tuning , though my experiences were different , had some trouble with these flat sheet metal props(though I always rigged beads behind them as well) , that's why I prefer bearings on them .

Maybe I just did not tune them sufficiently enough ?

But I figure out , that this one of yours might generate a different and more intense sound , since it has more play on the shaft without a bearing .

Thanks for the info and.........never mind:huh:!

If you don't mind my asking for a tip, how do you achieve that fade effect on the back of your baits? I've seen this from you on a lot of your baits, and it's a very natural-looking effect. Your baits look great, as always.
