Still trying to figure out how to keep the epoxy from squeezing out onto the straping, when bonding the sections together???

Why not try solid bodies with a screw eye/sst hinge pin hinge? I know JR Hopkins has discovered a great hinging method, but this method works, is adjustable, and makes the pins removeable, so you can get the spacing just right on the joints before you paint, or even after, if you want to.

Had a similar construction on my mind as well(purely theoratically , never started out at all:o:o:o) .

I did not think about applying epoxy to the belt portion at all , only a little to the PVC halves to bond these together , and fix the belt to the lure body just by some crosswise stainless pins or screws leading through the body .

With PVC you won't have to bother about any watersepage , the belt material won't soak up too much water , anyway .

But I was not quite sure , whether such belts were flexible enough for the purpose ?:?

good luck with it:yay: , greetz:) , Dieter

If you can get your hands on some climbing tape or slings those are made to 3KN breaking strains ;) Anyway, in the joint part that you want to prevent epoxy getting soaked into the webbing you can try impregnating the segment of the tape with latex glue (Elmers in US I believe) or just ordinary stationary glue. Whatever epoxy that got on the webbing can be broken off later leaving the webbing free of epoxy. You have to build up a thick enough surface layer of glue though and make sure it soaks right thru the webbing.

Hey Mark, I've seen JR's kevlar string bait, but would love to see some pics of the S/S hinge pin design that you talked about.

Diemai, I like the crosswise anchor pins that you mentioned to secure the strap to the PVC sections. You are definitely on to something. I have had success with the strap being flexable enough for swim testing. I used electrical tape to bind the strap in between the PVC halves & was able to slide the sections to the desired hinge gap. When it came to the epoxy, it got all over the place & ruined a good bait. Live & learn, I say.

Lapala, I will look into that climbing tape or string that you mentioned, it sounds like just what I'm looking for. The elmers glue is a great idea, I am going to do some testing with that for sure. By the way, love your work, some serious skills there.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the learning never ends.
