First Four Segment Bait

That's an interesting shape. Looks really good.

I love how the PVC tails on my swimbaits are buoyant, so they swim level on a sub surface retrieve, and "tail" on a surface lure.

If I were you, I'd play around with weighting the third section, just enough to get the tail to stand up, and no more. Having the tail a little unstable, so it wants to lean slightly left or right, makes the lure more erratic. I like to think of it like a crankbait "hunting", where it kicks off to one side or the other erratically on the retrieve.

I know this probably isn't important in a billed, sub-surface lure, but weighting in the third section will also result in the lure turning to look back on the pause, which I like in a swimbait.

I've found an easy way to weight test a finished lure is to hang split shots on the tines of the treble in the section I want to weight.

If you only need a little weight, you may be able to wrap the shank of the treble with fly tying lead wire, held tight with super glue, and not have to disturb you paint job.

Thanks Mark. Actually when I drew this shape, I got the idea for it by looking at a picture of a Sebile Magic Swimmer. I love their shape. Didn't turn out exactly like I expected but I'm happy with it. I gave this thing a tub test this morning. Its pretty violent, really shakes the rod tip. I think that is because of the bib. John, That bait swims really nice. Starts the swimming action with very little retrieval speed. Love the "s" movement, well done.

It swims perfectly! I don't think you need to change a thing.

I bet it will really shine on a rip/pause/rip retrieve.

The pointing forward lip seems to cause a very violent "snake" action , more pronounced than on most other swimbaits .

I have made a two section crankbait years ago with a similar lip configuration , it moves a bit alike , also shaking the front section left/right .

Great design for a swimbait , anyway:yes: !

Thanks Rob. Not from me you won't have competition. Its just a hobby for me, I have no intentions of selling these and if asked, my price would make a person mad. Grandson is doing well and he's smart too. He will be 10 months old on the 25th. He is the focus and joy of my life right now. I have only been fishing twice this year. Most of my spare time is devoted to being with and watching him growing up. All these lures will be going in a special tackle box just for him.
