Made this for a friend and co-worker who in retiring at the end of this school year. He is an excellent fisherman and better friend. The gold foil worked out well. I wanted to keep it simple, but interesting at the same time.:yay:

Very nice!

A question about top coating over the foil.

When I do a raised scale pattern, I usually have to put on three coats to smooth it out.

Do you have trouble getting even coverage?

Mark, thanks for the question.

I do put a coat of devcon over the foil. I put it on very heavy and through it on the wheel. My first couple before this one, I did have some problems with coverage, but this one worked out with one coat. I painted over the devcon and then gave it a second coat. I used 3 sizes of net and made lines on the bottom, that you cannot see in the pic, with 4lb test line under the foil.

I think that your absolute personal style for the eyes comes in very handy these days. You can use only one stick on eye for a lure, instead of 2. So you can significantly cut down the production costs for a lure ...:)

Love the way it looks. And I think the colour is a "catching" one.

Joe,

That makes perfect sense. Fill the voids before you paint. Genius, or as they say in the beer commercial, "Brilliant!".

What kind of glue do you use to stick the netting onto the lure, and on the foil?
