Bluegill

Ths is a hand painted bluegill from basswood. Slow sinker. Has a few technical problems with assembly, I tore the etex right near the first pin so will have to fix that. The clear coat is kind of dull atm cause of my grubby hands puting it together. It is late though, so its going as is on here!:teef:

Nice paint work ,...I assume , that you did brush it by hand ,....turned out pretty well and realistic !

I am also impressed by the tight hinging , looks very compact !

Great looking lure! Amazing paint job for hand work. I'm jealous! :worship:

Sorry to hear about the tear in the top coat.

Next time, try drilling out your pin holes with a piece of the same wire you use for the pins after you Etex. Works for me.

Dude that looks like a photo finish! That's amazing! I've also been trying to build slow sinking swimmers out of basswood- did you have to use a ton of weight to get it to sink? Basswood seems too buoyant.

Yeah, the basswood is pretty buoyant, it ended up being pretty heavy. I still have some technical problems with assembly to work on as far as the hinges. I did redrill the holes, but was still a very tight fit. Minus the gill plate and head, I used the same techniques the airbrushers use as far as netting. You just have to use a small amount of paint on the brush so it is dry enough, and still puts paint on. I had a problem with to much paint on the brush when using netting before, it would pretty much glue the netting to the lure and the paint would peel off with the netting. So a drier brush works well. I made this one for a Dr. friend of mine to try out this summer. So, hopefully it works ok.

Thanks for the compliments guys!
