Hand Carved Walleye

This little trolling bait is carved from Bass wood, has a deep diving G-10 bill, wire through, hand painted glass eye's, polycarbonate dorsal fin, and it is my first attempt at carved scales. Sealed with propionate, painted with H.O.K. paints, and top coated with E-tex. It is 7.5" long and weighs 2.7oz. I made this one to use behind my row trolling boat.

Wow, when you see this level of detail and work put into a bait it is just amazing. This is one of the nicest walleye baits I have seen.

When you say G10 lip, did you make it or purchase it. Is it based off a number 10 size spinner blade?

Thanks for your comments guys, I enjoy all of the innovative work displayed on this board. 76Gator, G-10 is a fiberglass and epoxy product commonly used as circuit board material. I chose it for this application due to it's stiffness. I had made one from polycarbonate, but due to it's long profile, it flexed too much. I believe Garolite and Micarta are similar products.

The detailing is beautiful, but the paint work is what caught my eye. There are certain species whose colors are very difficult to capture....the walleye is one of them and you nailed it! Great work again, Douglas.

Thanks guy's, you're too kind!!! Just like anyone else here I start off with an idea, develop a plan, and try to execute. When it's done, there are good points and things to improve upon. Fortunately, I've learned a few things from this one, and will apply to the next. V-man, it is clearly stated in the description that E-tex was used! LOL! LOL! LOL!!!
