I carved this little frrog popper out of a broom handle on a whim, I have been pouring soft baits for few years, but this good fun too, and no fumes! The lure is thru wired and the belly is weighted with 5g of lead, which turned out to be a bit too much so its more of a sub surface popper which has an up and down swimming motion with an irratic wiggle. I don't have a work shop or airbrush just used what i have lying around. Now i'm hooked, more to come soon!

This one turned out very beautiful , ...nice paintjob :yes:!

Such popper lures most likely should not be weighted to keep their cupped head planes high enough above the surface ,.......just make sure to rig the tail hook somewhat UNDER the tail to act as a keel weight(a belly hook does that automatically) , ....the less buoyant tapered tail would let them swim a a little "nose up", anyway !

well done:yes: , ...greetz , diemai:yay:

Cheers guys, much appreciated comments! I was just messing around without a clear plan of what I was trying to acheive until I was half way there! Not that I am not delighted with the result, still plenty of room for improvement though! Diemai, Yes I realized after i tried it that there was probably no need to add weight to the popper and that the hook would act as a keel weight. If I do get into this more seriously though, I will have ask you about european equivalents for wood sealing stuff like propinate (SP?) and top coats like Etex, and where you buy them. For this one I just used several coats of white auto paint to seal it and wooden floor varnish to top coat, but probably far from ideal. The paint job is just yellow and green spraypaint, red acrilic paint for the mouth, and black spots are with an indelible marker! I think I will try a surface stick bait next, and maybe a salt water one to take on vacation and ohh I have a damaged salmo pike lure to repaint and....oh deer think I need to retire at 35 just to do all my ideas! Cheers, simon
