A group of 23g Reaction Strike Revolution 4" Bluegill swimbaits I painted this week..Airbrushed glass eyes to set them off nicely..Gamakatsu hooks, epoxy coated.. I removed 2 hook eyes at the rear of body & went with just the one belly hook.. Excellent swim action..

They look great!

Interesting about going to one treble.

Did removeing the other hooks improve the swimming action?

The Spro 4" shad has only one treble, and it catches the fire out of the bass, so that should be perfect.

Hi Mark,

thanks for the comment.. Yes well it had an hook eye behind the anal & one strangely located behind the dorsal too.. I snipped them both off & patched over them w/epoxy prior to painting.. Its a small 3.5"-4" bait I saw no reason for a tail hook.. Might miss a nibbler once in awhile but the Biggin's will swallow this whole or smack the head anyway.. But you're correct, I had been fishing & painting BBZ-1's & figured one hook was plenty enough.. Having both the fast sink & slow version Reaction Strikes, I do think the 2nd hook makes the slow sink swim better.. This one is a fast sink model & loosing the rear hook made no difference..It still sits on its belly when it settles to the bottom too unlike the Spro which falls over on its side, from my experiences anyway..

Thanks again,

John

Nice looking paint jobs, body and eyes. I have some friends who swear by using just one treble hook center punched in the belly. Less hang-ups and easier hook removal. Seems to work well for them, I've yet to try it.

Thanks for all the positive comments, I really appreciate it.. Now, if only Tater Hog would drop in & send me a PM as to how he applies the flourescent like blue paint to mark the face/gill areas I could really spruce these up!.. haha..Thanks again, much appreciated,

John
