Weighted; VMC cone cut hooks. Hand-painted the eyes. Eye is anatomically similar to the alewife.

No clue what an Alewife is but my guess would be that it looks just like your bait. Love what you did with the paint coming down from the back of the head to the gill plates. Great looking bait!

Thank you guys, very much. You're all very kind.

The gill plates were made by stenciling and the paint was created as follows:

White base coat.

Gray faded over the back and shoulders, very lightly. Spray darker gray over heavier netting.

Apply fine scaling material over the entire bait: then mist silver pearl over the sides only.

Apply large scaling over the back and shoulders: mist gold pearl over the back but only near the edge of the shoulders.

The head details came from a stencil and were painted in layers with a finally overlay of darker gold pearl above the gill plate near the eyes.

Belly: Fine scale material with light blue pearl shot heavy on the belly over the white. (Light blue pearl is a very subtle color and requires a lot to get a pronounced effect).

Fin: Made stencil and shot it two layers; gold pearl and white trim

Eye:. I could tell you but then  I'd have to kill you.:teef:

3 finish coats of epoxy. 3 others were laid down during the painting process between layers...give the bait a bit of depth.
