koop 11 Posted August 20, 2010 Report Share Nice!! I love catfish - been working on a few myself. Love the colors, tail and whiskers (what did you use for the whiskers? - looks great). You've been busy lately - like everything you've been doing. Quote Link to comment
Fishwhittler 39 Posted August 20, 2010 Report Share Thanks! I used rubber jig skirt material for the whiskers. I put a dab of hot-melt glue on one end, let it dry, and then fold it over on itself and insert it into the hole in the lure body. If you glue the whiskers in straight they'll just pull out. I hope this helps. Ben Quote Link to comment
A-Mac 52 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Share very cool bait! Surprisingly, young of the year catfish are high on a bass's list of favorite meals. Channel catfish have a hard time naturally reproducing in reservoirs due to the impact of predation on the juveniles (which is one reason why catfish stockings take place). They're slow, nutritious, and delicious! I'd appreciate seeing some results from this lure. I've a catfish lure in the makings, but it's very far from the finish line. Just as a side note, bass have actually been used to control stunted bullhead populations as a successful management strategy. Good luck fishing. Quote Link to comment
