Yellow/gold bass popper

WOW FF, the bugle popper is sweet! That paint job has a nice old time flavor I think. What did you use to shape the mouth with?

Thanks, SCT. First I made the general shape on the lathe. Next I cut the head at a slight angle (note that the front is not perpindicular to the center line of the bait...in other words, the top of the mouth extends out farther than the bottom of the mouth)

To actually shape the mouth, I used a forstner bit and drilled a 1/2 inch hole straight into the mouth, and then tapered the hole back to the outside rim of the mouth with a rotary tool and a bullet-shaped sanding stone.

Looks great. Looking forward to seeing the musky popper soon!
