First Balsa Bait
This is my first through wire constructed, balsa wood lure. Everything was done by hand. The only power tool used was a Dremel. The bait is 2 5/8" long and 1 1/4" tall. Don't know how much it weighs as I don't have a scale yet. It was sealed with two coats of super glue with sanding between coats. A coat of slightly thinned D2T was then applied over the super glue for a smooth finish. AutoAir and Createx paints with a final clear coat of DN.
This was more of an experiment to see if I could even build a bait. It was tested in the bathtub and with some minor tweaking it ran straight and true with a fairly tight and active wobble. As you might expect I've already started checking the prices on some power tools that will make things much easier.
I'd like to thank everyone that helped me and took the time to answer the many questions I've posted here at TU. Without your help there is no way I could have built, or even painted, this lure. I'm hoping this is just the first of many.
thanks guys,
Ben
