Laminates

Nice looking baits. There is no easy way. You just practice and keep at it. You will develop a rythem as you go along and that's the best you can hope for. It takes about twice as long to pour laminates.

My tip is...don't make them except for yourself!!! LOL!! Just wait, you will get a smart guy wanting a laminate with a chartreuse or red head!!! Those really suck!!!!!

Yeah i have gotten a few already asking for weird laminate colors, the strangest????? 1/2 purple w/silver and 1/2 black red laminate. Thanks for the kind words on the baby bass

Is the top color green pumpkin? They look pretty sweet!! Don't forget to listen to Jim's advice.....lol

I did a PILE (20 bags of 10) red shad sticks last night and do have a tip!! Lay all your molds out and pour your first color in the first mold, close it and pour your second color. When finished, use that second color to pour into the next mold while your other color is re-heating in the mic. When you close the second mold and pour. You can then use that color to start your 3rd mold. Not sure why I have never thought of this pattern before but it made the lami's quick and easy!!!

The top color is a very drak watermelon green, my green pumpkin is an almost identical match to zooms, more of a greenish brown than a greenish green if you know what I mean...I added gold, black and a touch of green flake, the bottom is off white with very small silver and a touch of 62 black flake that shows up as random dark spots.

Jim, the laminate pattern you listed sounds like it would work great, gonna try it later, i have a bunch of these baby bass to make.. You think laminates are a pain...try the swirls that i do, they really suck, but then again. I'm only making them for myself and a select few others I kno...as long as it buys the next 5 gallons, I'm a happy man

How are you doing these? a) Pouring the head in the bottom half of the mold, then pouring the rest of the body, and then assembling the mold and pouring the other half?

or assembling the mold, pouring the head entire, letting it cool, disassembling the mold, pouring the bottom half of the body, reassembling the mold, pouring the the other half, and then eventually disassembling it?

Imagine it is the first rather than the second as the second is just too much work and would slow you down tremendously. Plus to pour the entire head for a start off and so it all ran down into the head rather than some cooling on its path down the mold would have to reasonably warm/hot for a startoff.

Interested in how effective you all think Laminates really are and wether they are worth all the extra work? Do they fish any better and produce better results or not?

They have their time and place depending on color or I should say colors.. baby bass in clear water does really well and red shad on cloudy days or at night is also a very good producer. don't ask me why cause I have no idea, just going from personal experience

If those are about 6", I can guarantee they'd kill Stripers on Old Cape Cod. They mimmick sand eels, quite well!

just 5 inch, but my brother uses them down on the jersey shore with some success, seems those nasty bluefish will eat them too

Another idea is to use a softer white for the belly. IE sugar flakes.
