"Ziggy"

I've been fiddling around with trying to make a close jointed lure while still making sure the connections are fully sealed with Devcon 2T (I don't topcoat with it, just anchor hardware). It is connected by two hand twisted wire screw eyes and the sections ended up 1/8" apart. Not bad but I'd like to get a little closer if anyone has any ideas. Anyway, this dude is 4" long and is kinda like a Heddon "Zig Wag". It is not weighted and I haven't tested it yet, but hope too this weekend.

Try using a countersink for both the eyelets (for the joint). I think this should give you a little space between the eyelet and the wood. Set the eyelet in the wood where you think it will fit. I don't think the eyelet has to be snug against the inside of the countersink. You can fill in with devcon to adjust the distance between the connections. My $.02 worth...

You make some great looking baits.

Thanks for the compliment Polecat. I actually did countersink at the joint on this one but not a lot. I think I can go more and get the joint to fit really close. It's just really tricky to get it together and sealed without gumming up the joint. I had this lure in the water today and it ran pretty good but the next one of these will have some weight in it.

Thanks again,

daymon
