Big fish, first cast. I used a bloop/bloop/pause retrieve, and thought I saw a blowup behind it about 10' into the retrieve. Two more bloops, and she nailed it.

It was right at the buoy line in front of a swim beach, where there is a drop off from 10' to 30'.

BPS Stacey King med. lite cranking rod, Quantum Accurist reel, all circa 2003, 14lb BPS Excel mono.

That's my favorite top water setup.

The 30 year old who won with 20lbs, Walter, is newly here from Conneticut, and he stuck a 6 and a 5.

It was neat, because another club member, Rodney, who fishes FLW, told him what to throw, and where and how to fish it.

That is truly what our club is about.

Rodney took third, with 18lbs. Karma.

Walter, who has fished for bass his whole life back East, said it was his biggest fish every.

They took several extra pictures of him and his fish, because his grin was so wide and bright it kept washing out the pictures.

Gin clear water, but it was foggy/overcast all morning.

She weighed 8.37lbs.

She spent over 8 hours in the livewell, and she still swam away full of fight when I finally released her.

Oh, ok. I saw the 8.37 but had just had to check because it looks even bigger...almost like a 12 or something. You should post a pic of the popper. Helluva tourney fish.
