  2. Even though it has been said it isn't the case......I think some are skeptical just because they see it as a business opportunity for LPO to pitch their company. I will admit I hate to see businesses get involved in what I think as a open site. I think others have similar feelings and would hate to see LPO incorporated into the name/overall theme etc.. . As one email I received put it they hoped it had just switched over and no one was wiser who was behind the scenes they feared it would be an extension of LPO services.

  3. As we all move into this new season here at TU, I wanted to share my thoughts here, with the hopes that it will put people's minds at ease. First of all, let me state very plainly that Tackle Underground will remain the open forum that it has always been. Lure Parts Online is not here to "take over" and make drastic changes based solely on what we think is best. On the contrary, we welcome your feedback and suggestions as to what you'd like to see here at TU as we move forward. The layout and the look & feel of TU will remain as it is for some time to come. And we will not be changing the name. It will remain Tackle Underground Our goal is to secure and reinforce TU as the world's leading resource for people who already make their own lures or want to learn to make their own lures and are starting from scratch. We want to grow together, with members having a part in the future direction of TU. So to that end, if you have suggestions or feedback on how we can make TU better, please reply here and leave your feedback. We're open to any and all suggestions! On another note, I have been personally working with Jerry for the past few weeks as we have prepared for this transition. We know the hard work that Jerry has poured into TU over the years and we want to make sure that the site continues to grow and flourish, giving us all a place to come and share ideas, teaching each other to build better baits and catch more fish on those baits! So with all of that said, I hope you will follow up with your feedback and suggestions for making TU a better place for all of us. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for sharing your suggestions and feedback. Curt

  4. Good point John. Too tight of a slot can wipe away any epoxy and leave an extremely thin film of epoxy to try and hold the lip in. I like to cut my slot so the lip slides in easily without binding, but not so loose that it will wobble around. When cutting my slots, if anything, I like them to be just a tad tight at the band saw. That way I can use a fingernail file to widen the slot to get the type of fit I want. Another thing I do is if any filing is needed to open the slot a bit I only file on the bottom of the slot. That way the top is left square and if necessary the lip can be wedged up against the top of the slot to make sure the lip stay square with the lure. I also drill holes in the part of the lip that fits inside the slot making sure to get epoxy in the holes when fitting the lip. This just gives a little something extra for the epoxy to bite onto. 5. Just wanted to throw this out there. A few months ago i had a couple of baits from some friends come back to me. The lips had came out of them. I posted the problem here on TU. One of the solutions was to not cut the lip slot too tight so that your glue film be to little. Just be carefull not to go too tight and have the same issue I had. John

  6. Welcome Curt, I'm sorry to see Jerry go but I appreciate all he has done, I've made many friends on this site and learned a lot of stuff about the craft and I'm glad it will continue. I see LPO taking over as a good thing, I'm a long time customer and when Stamina turned into LPO it got a lot better, and they always add innovating products, I really love the bio-silk skirting they have but not just the products, LPO has been really good to me getting items they don't carry for me so I didn't have to order from another place and incur another shipping charge. If they run this like they do their business I believe we will all benefit.

  8. Welcome to TU Curt. I can only hope you understand what TU means to so many of us and that you will continue to make this place the best site on the planet for lure building info. Jerry........what can I say man? I can't thank you enough for keeping TU alive through the lean years and making it what it is today. If it weren't for what I've learned here at TU I would be sitting around wondering what I was going to do next. Not only has this site been a place to learn it has been responsible for quite a few good friendships. When I wake up each day one of the first things I think about is "wondering what's going on at TU". And if not for your dedication to the site none of that would have been possible. From the bottom of my heart I thank you Jerry. Ben

  9. Sorry to see you go Jerry, I hope LPO takes better care of this website than their own. Everytime I visit its endless long running script errors and I have to call just to order anything. It'd be a shame to see TU reduced to that or worse, I love this site. Start backing up everything fellas I have a feeling this transition is gonna be rough. No offense meant to you Curt, I'm glad that you love fishing and I hope everything works out

  10. Hi, new to the site and would like to share a few pics of my lures. I started making then two years ago just to see if I would catch something on them. Once I got started I could not stop!!! This has been a great hobby and this site has given me tons of information as far as techniques and problems that I encountered along the way. Again thanks for having a great resource for what I call an almost lost art. It is nice to see the many skilled artist and craftsman. Quink..........
