Here's my 2nd attempt.

I've been reading through some of the posts, and man do those guys know their boats! Excellent place to pick up knowledge!

I often buy paint through taxidermy.net. It's a gateway site to an array of paint manufacturers who specialize in colors tailored to animal and fish reproductions. Most of the companies sell both a lacquer and an acrylic version of each color. The paints usually come ready to shoot (no thinning needed) and the cost is reasonable. Among the manufacturers Smith Wildlife is one of my favorites. You can mix and match acrylic brands with no compatibility problems.

calden, auto clears contain isocyanates which are very toxic chemicals. Most guys spray them, which requires advanced breathing protection. You pay your money and take your chances but your dipping regimen seems to avoid most of the dangers of breathing the stuff.

JR and Mark - I do see the logic and if this was the case, it would not actually damage the fluids theory. I am still going to try and prove it one way or another - it is what I do Dave

Well, I think I got it guys. I picked up a few new colors. This time I went with createx wicked paints. I've never sprayed them before but they turned out incredibly well. I stated with a white base. From their I sprayed the detail yellow over the shoulders head and belly. I left a bit of the dorsum white because I I went back with a pearl white to help with the purple. Once the purple was on, orange when on the ventral side. I made a small stencil out of masking tape. It might need some work but it allowed me to make the bait with the white stripe.

I wanna take a shot at it... Let me know how i do...... Video shows the nose sinking slightly when the lure is paused, but i think the weight is in the rear.. The nose being tapered down in the front resembles my current project, only in reverse.. I put my weight dead center, yet it still floats tail down because the tail is thinner and less buoyant.... I believe there is enough buoyancy in the tail of the darter to drop the nose, and enough weight in the tail to keep its inertia going as the flat sided nose slows the front down, forcing it to inherit the sideways action.... Same reason 18 wheelers jack knife.... I bet you could get the same action without the open mouth

i see white base coat...small chartreuse strip on the upper part of the shoulder, cheeks, and bottom. Red over the chartreuse on the bottom. Pearl purple over the white base on top....

I placed an order to spike it today and asked for a sample of theirs. If they send some I'll make up some lures and post some pictures to give you an idea of how it looks.

Polytranspar and Auto Air

It's funny how fast a hobby can turn into a job and all the fun vanishes... Been there more than once. I think the best part of a hobby is to do what you want and when you want to do it. Once it turns into a job, it's someone else telling you what to do and when to do it. Hopefully this will be just a one off deal, but word might travel.

Spend your money on the brush, a cheap brush will only cause you grief get an iwata hp-cs and you won't be disappointed

Good decision, great for stencils and moldings, but no strength in PetG for lip abuse. Dave

Can you post a video of that Mark? And I'm not talking about dipping in acetone.
