  1. This is Kim at LureCraft. Are you still having issues with our brush hog mold? If so, please call in and we will be happy to assist you and see what the issue is. Sometimes it is how hot/cold you have the plastic or how fast you inject it into the mold, or how cold/warm the mold is. We are here to help!

  2. #3. People are so afraid of bubbles that they don't mix the two parts well enough. Mix smaller batches, mix them well, and do fewer baits each batch, and you'll find the soft epoxy problem will go away.

  3. If you figure out the cost of plastic itself in a bait, unless you are making some really large salt water or musky baits, the cost of plastic is almost nothing whether you buy it at $500 per drum or $1200 per drum - you get what you pay for. When we were making baits, before purchasing LureCraft, my husband would get samples from others, open the container and get a whiff of it and put the lid back on and throw it away. The biggest cost of a bait is the labor that is put into making it, along with the packaging, excise tax etc. It does seem like a huge difference when purchasing it up front but when you figure it per bait, it is only a penny or two difference.

  4. I'm usually the guy hanging above you guys at the top of the derrick with a torque wrench. I'll stay away from the drill floor from now on

  5. I don't really like hammering nails Bob. The hammers you get to use are kinda small for my taste. Driving a 4" steel pin into a derrick connection with a 20 lb. hammer will let you really release all those inner frustrations. Ben

  6. The Devcon 30/2 Ton is what I have a used for 20 years. The big bottles are the way to go. I am still looking for a good thin coating to dip my lures in. Not wanting to derail this thread. I come from the Saltwater Fly and Plug end and always use the Devcon. If you have an ACE Hardware store they will order it for you. You have to have them get the big book out and have them add it to their order. It does not cost them anything and it will come with their next truck delivery.

  7. I had a little meeting with the IRS at my house over Federal Excise Tax and the repainting of lures. There is no Federal Excise Tax on repainting of lures. They do not consider it further manufacturing and I have a signed letter to prove it. As far as add ons, and especially if you make the lure, I'm pretty sure that would be taxable.

  10. I came up with this idea 10 year ago and now prefer barbless jigs or cut the barb off using a wire cutter. 1. 24g coated floral arrangement wire 2. Wrap once around the base of the line tie and snip on side close to it. 3. Cut the other end so the wire when bent is midway down the lure when the wire end is pushed into it. (picture) Note: Smaller jigs can take a smaller gauge wire, but 24g works for this and other applications such as skirted jig & trailers and swimbait hooks. Won't leave home without them installed and they won't " tear up the bait ". Note the wire trailer holder (arrow) attached with the skirt using a wire tie. Not only can baits be reused after catching over a dozen fish, but the baits stay up on the hook. My idea differs in that the lure holder is attached to each device permanently, ready to use when changing baits.
