  1. Thanks Dale. This is the second time you have mentioned practicing on PVC Taking that statement, I bought a piece of PVC pipe and a tube cutter. That's hard to paint. So you can say I'm dumb but I'm thinking now you meant like the PVC decking board stuff. The PVC pipe idea I said I can try that. But can't buy a piece of wood or pvc decking as I have no where to cut it. I live in an apt. My girlfriend of 7 years (you can have her) is a super super super super neat freak. I literally pull all my stuff out, set up, paint, and put everything back in a closet at the end of the day. She snapped when she came home once and I had the whole house (at the time) smelling like craws and garlic from pouring plastics all day. There is no way I could sand or cut that would make any saw dust in the place. Then again, if she came home from work and saw sanders, work benches, drills, saws, and lots of saw dust everywhere. HMMMM something to ponder.

  2. Yamamoto's Cinnamon is all over the map in my opinion. Many different looks from one body style to the next all named Cinnamon of some sort. Two other options are LureWorks Dark Cinnamon 190 and Cinnamon 191. Looking at color 176 it would be the dark version of Cinnamon, although trying to gauge a color through an internet picture is a hard thing to do.

  6. I often use Solarez uv cured polyester resin. You can't just hang it to dry but 3 minutes under a uv light or 10-15 minutes outside under sunlight cures it hard. Can't get much faster than that.

  7. It's not the 110+1 but I've done some testing on the slow rise 110 from Predator. My thinking was to let the bait suspend or slow rise while in a level position. Best I could come up with is this: Split rings are from predator I have no idea how the compare to any other company So, the line tie gets a 6 mm, front and mid hangers get a 5 mm, and the rear gets both a 5 and 6 mm Hooks used were VMC barbarian outbarbs. #6 for the front and mid. A #4 for the rear that has lead on the shank with a piece of shrink tubing (Thanks Jim). With paint and 2 coats of Etex, it sits level. However: I have found level to also be a product of the position of the ball bearings in the weight transfer system. On the cast the ball bearings slam to the rear. With them in that position, the initial setting in the water 8 times out of 10 is with a tail down attitude. After the initial twitch/jerk the ball bearings move forward and then the bait levels out.

  9. Flex coat is measured by volume, use the syringes it's a big help. I had some problems with a batch not curing and it was mix problem. The next batch cured just fine. You must use a turner. I build ultra light cranks from balsa and still use flex coat as my clear coat, never had a issue with it.

  11. One more thing to think about. Sometimes thinning a lot gets an effect that you may want. Dale

  12. Thinning, mixing and fine detail painting takes time/practice to get it down. But you know what.......you don't understand it until you keep trying. It's hard to tell you how to do things right from the start. Just keep asking questions and keep trying to do it. You may even find another way. Instead of making mistakes on a bait that you have put so much work on. Try doing these on anything else like paper, wood, pvc..... Keep it up you will get it. Dale

  15. I use a fresh air supply mask and pump now. I am sure that the plastisol was at least causing some bronchial discomfort. I bought it for painting but now use it for plastisol. I wear a basic dust mask for pouring lead.

  18. Andy if you are referring to the substrate material, you can buy it directly form Component Systems in small sheets. It is a bit pricey, and you will have to cut it in a circle to fit your fluid bed. There are other materials you can use as well, like vacuum cleaner bags, Tyvek, computer paper, coffee filters, brown bags, and also allergy pillow cases. Not all of the substrates will work for all of the powders. There will be some trial an error, as all powder paint have different densities and chemical make-ups.

  23. Someone turned me on to leaf/foil. I believe it was you Travis. I like using leaf with candy type colors. My clear coat over Wicked colors does very well. I'm am very happy with this technique. I'm still learning new ways of getting different schemes. Once confident with doing this I'm going to try some left over real gold leaf that I have left from a consignment that did some time ago, nothing but a "show and tell" bait. Its going on a desk.
