  1. There is some real talent around that is for sure. Sadly most fishermen have no idea at what exists outside of the mass produced lures Now if only we can have more of theses guys join into the forum and share some secrets

  2. @Brian7394 Thanks for the suggestion. In reality, without seeing video of each lure, it is extremely difficult to judge this aspect of any lure without actually fishing with it or having it available to test personally. With lots of years of experience, though, looking for certain qualities and design features of a lure, most of this can be judged without ever seeing a lure in action. So, in reality, this is already being taken into consideration. It was part of what I personally used to judge some of the baits. And I know that the people who helped me do the judging also looked at this. Thanks again.

  8. Highest, I have not problem telling the process, by the way....that's why I learn so much in here there is plenty of information!!! With an 5/0 worm hook that was straightened I use the hook point to scratch deep enough every single hair in the primer that is grey color, so after that I use the colors to paint (black and brown) the rat taking care that the acrylic paint goes inside the scratches and removing the outside paint, the white ones are the direct color of the scratch, repeating the process to have the desire result!!! Hope it helps!!

  12. Closest thing I can think of from your description would be a spinnerbait made in the 1970's called the "Tarantula " made by "Bass Buster" lure co owned by TV angler Virgil Ward . I know this probably isn't what you were looking for but it might jog somebody's memory .

  13. I'm not quite sure if this will bring about anything but I figured that I would try anyways. For years my dad, and late grandfather, have told me stories about a lure that my late grandfather designed and sold. This would have been decades ago called the Carter Spider. Simple design from what I have heard. Simply put it was a customization of a spinnerbait with a bit of rubber that allowed the skirt to move through the water similar to a spider. From what I have heard it was such an amazing lure that supposedly big name bass anglers would even use it, if I remember correctly even the likes of Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston. Not entirely sure if I remember that 100% correctly. Anyways, what I am asking is if anyone knows anything about this lure, or most importantly, if anyone knows if one still exists. It would mean the world to me if I could find one and present it to my dad. His dad, my late grandfather, owned a store in Hot Springs, AR and custom made rods and this lure I believe it was called something along the lines of Carter Fishing Supplies. Thank you for your time.

  14. See if you can contact one of the old users of the bait by email or a fan page something like that . Might just get an answer . Another possibility, Find the location of where the store was exactly . Next find out where the old fishing geezers hang out and ask some of them .

  17. When I got my first mold and gallon of plastic, my son and I nuked the first cup together. Then we coughed for 15 minutes after the irritation set in. After that, I invested in and built a ventilation system which makes it much safer for me and my family. Wasn’t extremely expensive. Hood, pipe, and a repurposed squirrel cage. Works for plastic and lead. So glad I did....

  18. Now that I think about it, I probably could have kept a fan on the mixing station instead of the pouring station. How creative of me. DOH!!
