  1. What is created paint? Heat your jigs with a Blow Dryer before you airbrush the primer on. (white paint) Heat before additional colors. I live in Southern California, heating my jigs before airbrushing helps a lot. .

  3. I know this is not new. But things are always changing. Thoughts on best jig clear or top coat. I’ve heard and seen everything from Sally Hensens nail polish, to KBS, epoxy mix, etc…. I bake my paint on but have seen a lot of people using a clear or top coat on their jigs to make sure to keep the eyes on their jigs. So…. I am asking those who have used different types of coatings for their opinions and what they use?

  4. Okay, I used Createx paints on the jigs in the photo. Try some heat before painting, good luck.

  8. I have tried the Twistech and now own the Hagens. I liked the Twistech and thought it did an outstanding job. The only thing I didn't like about the Twistech was the larger loop eye it made. On small trout and panfish spinners it just looked awkward. I have the small diameter loop dies for the Hagens and love it. If the eye loop diameter is not a concern, The Twistech is great. Minus the eye loop diameter, both of these wire formers are well built and fully capable of making great spinners.

  9. Thanks smalljaw, I did see that video at TJ's. I could have them done at Worth, but for painted blades there is a 200 blade minimum. I will check on the Quick Coat lure markers. Otherwise I will have to make a template and tap the color on. Either way light colors over the black is probably going to be a two step process.

  10. I'd use Quick Coat lure markers for the dots. The reason is because you can put the dots on and cure the blades and the dots will bake in just like the powder paint. The problem is there are only a few basic colors and they might not show up on black. You can add a white spot and then color over that but it is a two step process. TJ's used to have a video in which he was doing spoon blanks with a template he made out of the same spoon blank. He made feet out of thin wire like a paper clip and glued or soldered them to the bottom. He did the main color and then added dots with the brush tap method Cadman uses. That would work if you wanted to take the time and create a template by drilling holes in a blade and adding feet to keep it close but not touching the blade you need to paint.

  11. I like braid but hate tying mono or flouro leaders on all the time. Maybe I'm lazy, but if I wanted to spend all my time tying that many knots, I would start fly fishing again! I switched back to mono because of this for years and was happy as can be and didn't lose fish. This year I tried the co-polymer lines and am even happier. I Have used YoZuri and love it! I have also used Berkley Fluoro Sheild and really love that! Next season I will also try McCoy. When I used braid at first, I tied directly to the lure. I caught a hell of a lot fish. At some point in time from what I read and was told, you absolutely had to have a leader. For some reason I had a sheep mentality and did what I was told..... I have a friend who still to this day ties braid directly to his lures and catches a lot of fish. He says the guys that think they need leaders can pay him for fishing lessons!

  12. I use gorilla super glue and a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution as an accelerant. I use a toothpick to dab a tiny bit of glue on the eye opening of the swimbait and then I use a Q-tip to dampen the back of the plastic eye with the alcohol and it sets almost instantly. You can clear dip it afterwards but I have never had an eye come off. You would have to tear the actual bait to get the eye off.

  13. Welcome to TU. If you are referring to the body, brass is pretty heavy.

  14. I do. I was concerned the porous nature of the wood may cause problems with the silicon. I just sand well after applying with 400 grit.

  16. I've been using KBS clear spray. Just actually did another batch for a guy last night. Do It freestyle jig with flat glow eye stickers. So far been able to wear hooks out before any eyes fall off. If i was doing 3D eyes i might dip them. But you can see the clear sealed around the eyes
