  1. Saw this thread was revived recently. I now own a few molds from Angling AI. Happy with the product and their customer service. The only problem is I don't know which mold to order next.

  4. It gets difficult because guys use so many different things. "Solo" cup gets mentioned but individuals were using various different plastics. The same for the "virgin" lacquer thinner. Those also end up being different chemical compositions depending on location and brand. Reason so many hit and misses with the solo cup method. Propionate was easier for most because they were sourcing the same product from Swede or Palmeto Balsa for instance. Even then I was never sure what exactly propionate they were using. I assumed cellulose acetate propionate based on the initial Rapala reference and coming a few sites across the pond with google translate.

  5. Not sure why you want a short shank hook for your chatterbait. I want to keep the blade a good distance from the hook point to ensure a hook up. Currently I’m using the Owner straight shank worm hook in 4 and 5/0 and also the Bass Pro Shops straight shank worm hook in 5/0. No problems with either of these.

  6. I use high solids concrete sealer as a wood sealer. It works fantastically! I originally bought a bunch of concrete sealers for top coat testing but they all reacted with other baits getting sticky and such when left in the sun or a hot plano box. So instead of tossing them i tested then as the sealing agent and then paint and topcoat with auto clear and it works great!

  7. Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate it. I am going to buy and experiment with some of the solarez stuff but for now I broke down and just ordered more auto clear.

  8. I use MF medium a lot and to soften up my baits I might use 1 teaspoon to 4oz Only an estimate of course as I don’t measure out that amount. To make a bait extra soft start with 2 or 3 teaspoons and go from there. Your idea of super soft may be different than mine . You will more than likely have to experiment with the softener until you get what you want. When I make stick baits I’ll use MF sinking soft add my salt or glass beads and then use softener there too. Typically about the same as what I use in medium, and even then I may have to adjust the amounts. Start with plain plastic. Add a teaspoon of not what you want. Carefully reheat and add another teaspoon. Still not what you want? Repeat as necessary. Might take a few tries but once you get your desired softness write your recipe down

  9. Both are really cool! I always enjoy seeing the stuff people come up with. It's always challenging and inspiring. Great work, and good luck when it does come around!

  11. I always used Bait Plastics medium. Didn't care much for floating additives so I just got the floating plastic. I've used everything from mica powders to dyes . Didn't matter that much to me but I made sure it didn't bleed . Check that bleeding potential before you buy colorant. Real disappointment when you have a bag of baits come out like a cheap flannel shirt.
