  1. Gee guys, you're embarrassing me! Thanks for the nice compliments though. You really don't how much I appreciate them. Gene

    Tilapia

I did use my talapia there but I didn't have much luck with it. I don't know if it was the lure itself or the fact that we couldn't get a crankbait bite. I gave one to one of the owners of the hacienda and he caught fish on it a few weeks later. We will be leaving on Feb. 14th and spend the night in Harlingen, TX. We will leave by charter flight the morning of the 15th and arrive at the hacienda about 10 or 10:30. We will fish that afternoon (Friday), Saturday, Sunday, & Monday and return on Tuesday the 19th. This will be my 6th year. I haven't broke the double digits there yet (I have a 12 lber that I caught in Florida several years ago) but our group has had 3-10's & 1-11. My biggest is a 9-2. I caught it two years ago. I don't know about Huites but at Guerrero we catch a lot of fish on watermelon/seed & watermelon/red Flukes and lizzards. White spinnerbaits also work great. Gene

    Tilapia

Plop, Here's a talapia that I did a couple of years ago. Where are you going in Mexico? I'm headed to Lake Guerrero in about three weeks. Gene
  4. Thanks KC. I'm usually here. I just don't post much anymore. Bruce, I'd give up on the idea of Bar-B-Qing Zoe (Nathan's pig) unless you like your meat with a lot of fat. Besides, you'd probably have to fight Coley for her. Gene
  5. I have been to all of the gatherings (as has KCDano, Coley, Charlie Mitchell, & DLAery) since the first one. It is not a formal affair just a bunch of guys getting together to build, show, talk, and trade lures for a few days. We meet at Nathan's house and gather in his shop. As far as food goes, we have, in the past, grilled burgers, had a fish fry, and Coley put together one of his "Hobo's". You might also consider bringing anything that you don't use any more or that you would like to share or trade. Things such as, lure blanks, lips or bibs, paints, wood or other lure materials. After all, we are a bunch of pack rats. Understand that Clinton is not a big town but it has just about anything that you would need. There are several restaurants and a few other hotels besides the ones that have been mentioned. Nathan's house is about 8 miles outside of town. It's not hard to find. If you have any questions or need any help, let us know. We'll do what we can. Gene
  6. Absolutely! I wouldn't miss it. I've been there since the first one. Nathan & Deb are great people. They are a bit demanding though. They'll tell you that after you've been there 5 minutes you have to act like family. Gene
  7. Jay, Here is a Punkinseed that I did a while back. Gene
  8. Pete, If you decide that you want to visit Stones River Battlefield, I live about 10 minutes from there. I can help you with any local info for the area that you might need. Gene
  9. Try Krylon, Color Place, etc. Almond. It makes a great bone color. Gene
  10. Nathan, Linda and I are sorry to hear that. We were looking forward to seeing everyone again. Put us down for next year. Gene
  11. The time is getting closer. So, I thought that I would bump this back to the top. Gene
  12. Guys, Here is an old tip passed along to me from Coley. Spray one side of your netting with spray adhesive and let it dry. Then just stick it onto your lure, paint, and remove. You can spray several baits before you have to reapply the adhesive. Gene
  13. Charlie, I hope this doesn't mean that you won't be joining us at Nathan's this year. Gene
  14. As I said in my last post, the dates are April 26-29th. We usually start about 9 in the morning and go until about 9 at night. We talk about making lures, have some demonstrations, fish, eat some fine food, and just plain visit. We get together at Nathan's house in Clinton, Missouri which is a little southwest of Sedalia and about an hour southeast of Kansas City. The wives are also welcome if you want to bring them along. Gene
  15. Guys, I don't know why Nathan hasn't answered your posts. I can't find the events either but the dates are April 26-29. Please try your best to be there. We have a great time. Gene
  16. Hoodaddy, I live about 30 miles from Old Hickory and its been several years since I fished it but I can give you a little help (maybe). Old Hickory is a lake with a lot of barge traffic which means it is equiped with a lock & dam system. When the locks are opened it creates a current and the fish will hold on the downstream side of the structures. It also has milfoil or used to. I don't how bad it is now. The banks are mostly public property so there are plenty of boat houses and docks. If the water happens to be cold, which it probably won't in October, plan to fish around the Gallatin steam plant. I understand it's a fish magnet in the winter time due to warm water discharge. I know that this probably isn't much help but it's the best that I have to offer. Gene
  17. Go to your local sign shop and have them make some out of vinyl tape. You can get hundreds for under $20. They will make whatever size, shape and color you want. Gene
  18. Here are some old lure autopsies that I had posted a long time ago. Hope they help. Gene
  19. rjbass, If you are referring to www.angelfire.com/tn/treetotreasure/lips.html , that is my site and as far as I know it has never been down. I just checked the link and it still works. Gene
  20. Red, I've been here since the beginning and plan to stay until the end (my end that is). I'll help where I can if needed. Gene
  21. David, As close as you live to Nathan, I don't think that you will want to miss the Hobo. It is the best eating that you'll ever get out of a trash can. Skeeter, You really should try to be there. You're going to be missing a great time. Gene
  22. Just go to your local sign shop and have them cut several different colors and sizes out of vinyl sheets. You can have hundreds of dots done for under $20. Gene
  23. Nathan, After our talk the other day I have manipulated some things and Linda and I will be there. We will arrive on Friday afternoon, however and will leave Monday morning. I look forward to seeing everyone again. Gene
