  1. The yellow body/red head is defiantly a old combo that has produced through the years( as has the white/ red head) ..It's funny how old becomes new again.A pattern I found that works well I found by accident. My wife went through a " cow " thing several years ago where she collected anything Blk/ white Holstein theme.I built and painted her a " Holstein" colored crank bait and took it to a near by pond to tune it and slayed the fish on it.This pattern ( Pearl White with Black splotches) has proved itself on many occasions .Against a light background the black is visible and against a dark background the White is visible..makes sense..Nathan
  2. There is nothing a man won't due to free up a hand for a beer!!..genius!!..lol..Nathan
  3. JRammit, Congrats. on your first build...That style bait can be challenging for a seasoned hard bait guy..let alone your first build..well done!!..Nathan

    Feather Lure

Ichthus, You may want to try using cross cut hides referred to zonked strips in the fly tying arena. They are cut from hides of various animals ( rabbit is the most common). They may not be feathers but they can easily be attached and give you the look you want..Nathan
  10. These are eyes I painted with the same type paint..and the picture was taken with my IPhone....I hadn't exposed them to much light before the picture & they still shined bright...Nathan
  11. Great job but these photo's should be put in the gallery..Nathan
  12. Another type glue that works well for a temporary fix is Elmers rubber cement. When done the rubber cement is easily removed..Nathan
  13. Actually..30% solids is really good for a concrete sealer...Nathan
  14. Gene (Lincoya) used those blades on his Pumpkinseed imitations..Looked and worked great!!..Nathan
  15. I'm with Vodkaman...Looking at your set up..I'm surprised your only getting 3-4 ft out of this bait.I build a bait with a similar bill/ tow point and get 6-8ft out of mine...Also, have you considered approaching this from a different way...What about building a slow sinking version of your bait?...Nathan
  16. Thanks for posting this..good info. to have. I wonder if the top coat is reacting with the plastic lid..or is the heat within the box softining the top coat and it is sticking to the lid..did any of the baits stick together?...Nathan
  17. We love to see your baits but these pictures belong in the gallery..Nathan
  18. You can actually use sun light to cure the top coat. The benefit is you can top coat and fish the bait in about 10 minutes ..Nathan
  19. Fish, http://www.ecoadvanceproducts.com/products/uv-instant-cure/ultra-v-coating.html This company sent me a sample to try...Unfortunately I've been busy with orders and haven't been able to mess with it yet...I told the guy he will need to make it avaible in smaller quantities though ..As for my Location..I'm in Clinton Mo. Which sets between KC & Springfield on Truman Resivoir..Nathan
  20. That Alumi-UV is some pricey stuff..where are you located in Mo.?..Nathan
  21. Gliders, I used the plastic cups years ago..they were the clear/frosted type plastic ...you have to use Virgin lacquer thinner to melt them..regular lacquer thinner isn't hot enough to melt them...Nathan
  22. Yep...That's it Ben..Nathan
  23. It's called "Platic Dip"...The dip able version is too thick for our purpose (it's made to dip tools in so they can be held better) The spray on is what you want.I've seen it at Walmart before but they have only stocked the colored versions..not the clear..It was in the paint section...Nathan
  24. There is nothing that isn't going to chip if your hitting rocks when casting...I'd recommend you go to the hardware store and pickup a can of clear, spray on "Plasic Dip". It has a Matt finish ( which makes no difference..all finishes look the same under water..plus your night fishing)Plastic dip has a rubbery feel to it and is extremely tough...It will hold up longer to your errant casts better than anything else..Nathan
