OK guys time is getting closer..I'd like to get a head count of how many we will have attending and when..Your more than welcome to attend evryday..(we hope you do!!) Thurday evening is the meet and greet Friday we kick off at 10:00 am Lunch and dinner are provided...(I'll be BBQing burgers for dinner) Saturday we kick off at 10:00 am again, lunch and dinner are provided (Coley and Charlie are cooking Beer Butt Chicken for dinner!!) If you'd be interested in putting on a demo for us,speak up..it's alot of fun and really low key Deb. and I look forward to seeing you guys..Lets make this year the biggest and best yet..Nathan

Something I've been playing around with is Clear plastic dip in the spray on cans.It gives you a matte finish and a very strong rubbery feeling durable top coat....Nathan

If I understand right,you provided the bait you painted and he bought?..If that is correct,I'd replace the bait...The little money your out is NOTHING compared to the poor word of mouth advertising this will cause you...Nathan

A light sanding definatley doesn't hurt anything..It gives the paint something to grip too..Nathan

I'm still in the early stages of testing...It will definatley work well for a under coat too seal the wood.The product is definatley dipable..That is how I'm applying it.As for spraying and brushing ,I'm not sure..but I THINK it could be brushed on..It appears to be a self leveling product.I'm in the process of trying it out as a top coat now....I'll keep you all updated on my experiments..Nathan

Dick sent me a sample of another product he has been working on.For the lack of a better name I'll call it DN's plastic.This stuff is semi-clear and as thick as cold syrup.This stuff can be thinned with Acetone ONLY!! My first thought with this stuff is it may make a great wood sealer.I thinned it down considerably and gave a bait two dips about 15 min. apart.and hung it too dry (I did not put it on a turner)after a couple drips the acetone evaporates and it starts to set.After 24 hours and I gave it a check.It had dried perfectly clear and was extremely hard.The bait was now ready to paint.While dipping the baits I noticed the first coat penetrated the wood very well.the second coat gave the smooth surface you need to paint on.I think two dips..three max. is all you'd ever need.to prep. a wood bait for painting with this stuff.Now for you Balsa guys (My baits were made from Cedar)you may need a extra dip..I'm not sure,my experiments haven't gotten that far yet.But my first thought are this stuff maybe a great alternative to sealing your balsa with epoxy..It would definatly be lighter. Now all that said..I'm not so sure this stuff would not make a great dipable top coat for wooden baits aswell!!! These same baits I've undercoated with it,I'll top coat with it to and let you know... I just wanted to thank Dick for all his hard work on bringing this products too us and letting us play!!..Nathan

Yes you have to spray a sealer over your decal before it is applied or the ink may run on you...I just use a can of clear laquer from Walmart.Spray a couple thin coats,and let them dry..Nathan

Bob, Your comments on the top coat have been extremely helpful and well thought out.I just think we need to check and recheck ourselves as we go along.Try the same test again..If you get the same out come,then it wasn't a flook and we know there is definatley a problem there.. Dick,I'm really glad to see you haven't thrown in the towel on this!!..Nathan

I wasn't fortunate enough to get a sample of this to try,but it appears to me it's being thrown under the bus to soon.Bob,have you considered giving the water submersion test one more time?..Perhaps you missed a spot on the top coat.I think we need to check and recheck ourselves here..Nathan

Hey Guys, This is Deb. This is the first chance Nate & I have had to get online together. I wanted to say thank you to the guys that helped supply meals and more importantly COOKED! I sincerely appreciated the help. Thank you very much. The food was all wonderful...like you. I had a lot on my plate and was sick but we didn't want to reschedule. And of course, it was hard having our youngest leave the nest. But now you should see our game room! lol!! I hope you all had a good time. I haven't gotten to watch the video, but I know you were all great. We will look forward to next time. Hey guys..It's hard to believe but the get together is only about 6 weeks away..(Especially when I look out my window and watch it snow!!)..I need a head count..and any volunteers to put on a small seminar of their specialties...I'll be doing one on glittering tech. and other finishes..etc..Nathan
