    Broken Lure

First thing you want to do is make sure all the water is out of it.Then paint on a thin coat of devcon 2ton epoxy. That should seal it up for you..Nathan
  3. Hey FF, Believe it or not,I've heard of guys hunting ducks and pheasants with a bow. They use blunt nose arrows, and have at it.I have my hands full with a shot gun!!..Nathan

    3D eyes

They do have a adhesive on the back, but you will still need too put something over them to protect, and hold them in place.I always epoxy over mine...if you don't want to top coat them, try a drop of super glue in the eye cavity..that might be enough to hold it in place..Nathan

    Grants

Alot of times these classes maybe offered at a junior college. With federal funding drying up, all your public service offices are using grants.Call your local police or sheriffs office,Welfare, housing etc. And ask who writes their grants and talk to them. They should be able to point you in the right direction for your location. They may even be willing to write it for you..Nathan
  14. The past year I've been playing around with diaitchi death trap red hooks. I think these hooks can make a difference in some situations.First of all,red is the first color that fades out with depth. You add any coloration to the water and red fades out even quicker. In clear water fishing or shallow applications I think these hooks bring a few extra strikes. The color comes off the hook very easily if you use pliers to remove the hook leaving the gold plating under the red. I haven't tried any other brand of colored hook.Any feed back on other brands and how well the color stays on,or any other thoughts?..Nathan

    Grants

Kid, Grants are a great idea. The police dept. I use to work for used grants all the time. One word of advice, take a grant writing class. The paper work is very tedious(spelling) and one minor screw up and it's all over. The money you spend on a class is a great investment, both in time and money spent. After you write your own grant, you can write them for others for a fee!!..Nathan
  17. Tim, As per my email...I'm in too!!..Nathan

  21. Coley, Sorry for the delay,I've been under the weather the past couple of days. I generally use pine, and turn them on a lathe. It's going to be hard duplicating something you don't have to use as a pattern.I'd start off with a 3/4 x 3/4 x 5" piece of wood and work from there. When you get it shaped the way you want, drill a 1/4" hole in very back/bottom of the lure. Now pour some lead in this hole.Just as the lead is setting up(a second or two)press the lead against a flat surface to pack the lead in the hole. Now put the lure back on the lathe, and sand the leaded area smooth.Don't drill it so deep that it effects putting a eye screw through the back. You may have to adjust the wood size, amount of lead etc. until you get the effect you want. This should give you a starting point...also, besure to keep good notes so you remember what you did..Nathan
  22. Both are excellent books, and a great source of info. you'll use all the time...Nathan
  23. Whats not to believe Coley..Your very talented, and word gets around fast!! As for the Spook, yes they are weighted, and the further back the weight the easier they walk.I weight mine at the very back of the lure. You'll have to play around with the amount of weight you want for the desired action..Nathan
