  1. Hi All, Been getting a few emails regarding some problems with the "quick links" drop down menu and various other drop down menu's on the site. There is a small bug in the AJAX coding and will be sorted out shortly. Thank you, Jerry "redg8r"

    Genius Pete........ 5 stars.
  3. Hi Pete, I can speak on behalf of the whole TU crew in backing up silverdoctors condolences. I'm so sorry to hear you lost a fellow firefighting comrade. Just so you know, I wear the the Australian Royal Fire Brigade hat you gave me religiously, it's well broken in & comfortable. If there's anything we (TU) can do, let me know. We had a fellow Australian TU member pass on last year & we sent flowers to the procession & stayed in touch with his kin. if you have ideas on how we can contribute to the cause, or to his memory, again, get ahold of me. All the best my friend. Jerry
  4. Its pretty simple, if you are trying to show a large image, dont embed it into the forum post.... link to it instead. If the photo is embedded into the post & stretches the site layout, the mods will remove it.
  5. Ok, If you read back on fishnfools initial post on this topic, he admitted the knot was based & similar to the uni knot, with his own touch on it. He submitted it.....it won. Deal already. If your so hellbent on disproving our member, why don't you take it over to the NAFC boards, or write the editors who featured this contest. We didn't feature, promote, or endorse anything regarding "Knot Wars". Flat out, your criticism isn't welcome here... period. And I'm not protecting Fishnfool, we've have had words in the past over other topics, but he contributes here & shares our passion of making things that catch fish. If you don't share the same interest, you need to move on, understand?
  6. Well if you need something custom & making them yourself isnt an option, you can try Land o Tackle Tell Bob that Tackleunderground.com sent you.
  7. Ok. so you say its not his, so "Who's" is it?
  8. Understood. Welcome aboard.
  9. They use a high impact thermoplastic like polycarbonate or high impact acrylic. it comes in pellet form, its melted into a liquid state, then injected into metal molds to cool. I'd venture to say Rapala does not do this in-house, they likely outsource that process to a supplier. You can check the supplier directory here to find diving bills ready for purchase, or you can make your own: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hardbait-how/13549-polycarbonate-lexan-lip-former.html http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hardbait-how/12155-compound-bending-lexan.html http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hardbait-how/5192-kb-how-make-your-own-lips.html Or some search results: Tackleunderground - Search Forums
  10. While I've got you here, are you sharing a PC with another TU member? I ask because the site is telling me you are posting under 2 different usernames.
  11. Well, if its a modern wooden rapala, they'll glue in a injection molded plastic lip. If its a plastic bait, the bill is part of the entire lure body mold, injected as 2 body halves (left & right) then sonic welded or glued together.
  12. Molding a lip wouldnt be that tough, what is tough is finding a durable casting material that is clear. Thats why most are injected from high impact thermoplastics or cut or stamped from polycarbonate (lexan) I've tried casting lips from Epoxy & clear polyester resin years ago. way too brittle.

    test tanks

Just a quick thought..... (edit) Sorry, I didnt See birdmans last reply, which is basically the same concept. If you can find a cattle trough, those usually have rounded corners to help the flow birdman was talking about. Lapala posted some videos from Rapalas test tanks, which weren't very large, maybe look for those videos on youtube. I'm spoiled, i use the pool, but post your progress anyone.
  14. Hi Robalo01, I sent you an email but it bounced, so here is the info you requested. Member benefits page: Tackleunderground Home - TU Club Membership Signup Form: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/payments.php Regards, Jerry "redg8r"
  15. Another variable not yet considered is the packaging. I've never purchased directly from Lurecraft, so I cant speak for the packaging, but I have numerous samples from various chemical suppliers. I have one in particular that is nearly 4 years old & in perfect condition. Much like laminate/worm bags are necessary to preserve your pours, certain packaging, even plastic bags & bottles can leech & release certain chemicals & solvents over time. The sample I mentioned is packaged in a clear plastic jar & white cap that looks to be made from styrene, but I know it isnt, it just looks & feels the same as styrene. Anyway, another thought to consider...........
  16. Comparing Alumilite & Featherlite is like comparing apples to oranges, they are not the same kind of product. Like the Capt. said, with alumilite, you need to add microballons to change the density, which featherlite already has mixed in. Alumilite is a typical casting resin that compares to most other resins on the market like "smooth-cast" & other urethane resins.
  17. Thats likely your problem.. the hardener settles, so if your low, the remainder has excess hardener in it from insufficient mixing over time. Softener should help.
  18. Hi, Most of the machinists specializing in custom molds are listed in our component resource directory If everyone is booked up or unable to fulfill your lead time, consider checking into local machine shops, im sure many are slow & willing to take on odd jobs. Thank you.
  19. Yep, I'm seeing the wal-mart pegs empty here in FL too.
  20. There are examples on here, one I remember involved modifying a butter knife. Do a search on "basstrix" and "dipping" There are commercial ones offered by a couple of suppliers also. Good luck.
  21. Wow!....... Great Project, kudos on your new vessel! Very informative, looks like you had some quality help and some quality time with your fishin buddy. Well done.
  22. Thanks for that Coley, you made soda shoot out my nose Depends...... if Nathan has a broadband connection...could be possible. the site (server) has the capability, we'd just have to get the video from Nathans to the server.
  23. We'll leave the post for now, but moving it to the docks. Just to iterate, the hack isnt related to TU, just a notice to your existing TU contacts. All the best.
