  1. Yep, youre right, thanks. Give it another go, lemme know if you still have trouble. thanks again.
  2. Just so I dont have to go & look up your accounts, could you tell me what web browser youre using? MS Explorer? Firefox? other? Thanks fellas. Jerry
  3. Hi All, Wanted to take a moment to announce that we've brought Bruce aka "Spike-a-Pike" aboard as our new & much needed Tutorial Manager, replacing Shawn "artbrush" the former tutorial manager. Bruce has the skill & experience we need to bring the tutorial section back up to par & hopefully spark some interest in new submissions. You'll soon see some restoration happening to the area, along with a new format on how the tutorials are compiled & accessed. I like what I've seen so far, hopefully you will too, so take second to welcome him aboard. Bruce, myself along with the mods very much appreciate your effort. Thank you. Jerry "redg8r"
  4. That particular ad was deleted, not sure why the title remained.
  5. I tested in the hard baits gallery, worked on my machine. Anyone else having this issue? Sorry for the late reply Dean. Jerry
  6. Yep, oomoo, mold max, poyo, ecoflex, smooth sil. Oomoo is probably the most preferred from their catalog because of it's 1-1 mix ratio. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
  7. You need a specialized glue made exclusively to adhere to silicone, which may very well be silicone based. My suggestion would be to dust the backs/base of your mold with talc or baby powder to facilitate sliding.

It's an accurate reflection, maybe not 100% because as Del said, there will obviously be a group who registers with the intent to spam, we have about a dozen members with 2 registrations who I watch closely to make sure theres no ill intent, and given the fact we lost hundreds of members in the server crash. Yes, currently about 1500 Active members, we still have over 5000 members, theyre just doing something else right now Now let me tell you about these new rod eyes I found yesterday...........

The short answer unfortunately is that people come & go, as was said previously, jobs, family, new hobbies, new business. Hell, life effects my participation here quite often. I'm not 100% sure on the conditionals, but the site considers registered members who access the site "x" amount of times within "x" amount of time an "Active member". Unregistered users currently enjoy all the same read benefits as a registered user minus the privelige(sp) to post. In other words, we dont push people into registering. I could add more, but I don't wanna hijack the thread
  10. colander....... sure it aint the bevels on your beer mug? Git 'er fixed cause you're on deck. I'll email you a lil later. Looks like the upgrade went faster than anticipated. Have a look round, some negligible changes, as always if something looks awry, let me know. I saw in another thread where Dean mentioned URL's in the qoute/reply boxes are displayed in yellow with a white background (making it tough to read) I'm workin on that one. Jerry
  11. Thank you thank you..... Chris (alsworms) Skeeter & Nathan deserve alot of the credit for maintaining the site. Del has also contributed his time in dire need Since we switched to vbulletin a couple years ago, upgrades have been pretty pleasant, before that it was phpbb which took a solid weekend, 4 pots of coffee & about half my hair Since Del's recent unfortunate incident I wasnt taking any chances, the gallery is still off limits until I get the new code. Thank you fellas for the kind words, I always say & I'll say it again, its YOU that makes TU such a great place, without all the gifted minds that gather here, we're just another site. Take care & all the best for a great 2008. Jerry
  12. Yes, both left & right columns will be recovered once upgraded. They belong to a separate piece of software that is still being upgraded. Thanks,
  13. Hi all, Sorry for the recent interruption, we've succesfully upgraded the forum software & you'll notice some content areas temporarily omitted. We wont be able to upgrade the rest of the site until Monday. I dont want to shut the site down for the entire weekend so I've reopened it with a notice that we will complete the entire site upgrade later next week. To those of you who are advertising in the temporarily omitted areas, we will credit your account/s with double the amount of time. Any comments, questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly. Thank you, Jerry "redg8r"
  14. I have done it with surprising results while fooling around with leftover silicone from a moldmaking experiment. I took household silicone sealant (100%) & mixed in a couple drops of craft paint. Spread the mixture on a sheet of wax paper & placed another sheet of wax paper on top & rolled it out with a rolling pin of sorts (I used PVC pipe) Was ready in about an hour. It was tricky to cut consistently, but I'm sure theres an easy way to make some sort of grooved platen (like MDC said) to eliminate the need to cut at all. I tooled around with different colors & glitter to make some cool looking swirl patterns. I put the skirt on a tuna jig & gave it to my old boss. he caught dozens of Dorado in the keys before bringing it back & asking for a few more to outfit all his outriggers.
  15. Small world huh? I spoke to the guys at techno cnc also, good guys. They look like a good entry level machine over shopbot. I was there looking for finishing (coating) suppliers, if I find any products that lend themselves well to baits, Ill sure pass it along.
  16. Big Toho Marina www.bigtoho.com Historic downtown Kissimmee Ask for Mark Detweiler or his son Travis. Good folks, family business. They hosted the record setting bassmaster classic and our (unreleased) tackleunderground calendar project. PS they love handpours for their private stash.
  17. Yeah, hell, shoulda let me know you were coming this way. Theres a few TU lifer's in the area I need to wet a line with. I spent the weekend at the woodworking expo just outside Universal. Been in Florida bout a decade, but West Virginia 's where I call home. The BPS here is damn nice, but you should check out the Springfield headquarters in Mo. if you ever make it towards Nathan's neck of the woods. Glad you had a good time, I do enjoy the area, just as I did the gulf coast, I guess after awhile the locals do get a little bit jaded, but it is fun. Wheres the timeshare approximately?
  18. I live about 20 minutes away, but never fished it. My understanding is that they privately stocked those lakes 20 years ago & recently started doing guided trips, the fish are hungry & they say 30-40 largemouth in a 2 hour trip is common. This is just locals word-of-mouth, mind you. East & West lake Toho is about 15 minutes from disney & a great selection of local area guides.
  19. I second that, Alginate is water based & doesn't exotherm (heat up while curing) if it does, I cant tell. You can do the initial (negative) mold in alginate, then cast that (positive) mold with additional alginate (it doesnt stick to itself once cured) then you have a soft master (positive) to cast a rigid (negative) mold using plaster or water putty. 3 steps, but the first 2 can be done in 15 minutes. If you want a flexible mold (RTV) then substitute the second cast with plaster, then in turn cast that one with RTV, resulting in a flexible negative. Hope that don't confuse anyone, I almost confused myself.
  20. Hello everyone, Lately we've had an influx of requests for username changes. In the past we would honor the request for new users only with very low post counts. Effective now, we will only change a users name if a particular circumstance warrants it, for a variety of reasons, mainly because it confuses the other members. Also please remember that our site guidelines prohibit the registration of multiple accounts. We have monitoring in place to detect them & in most cases we will suspend both accounts associated without notice. Thank you for your cooperation & understanding on the matter. Jerry "redg8r"
  21. Agreed, consider it done. Thank you.
  22. Good find Del. That tutorial is a few years old & can be improved on tremendously with all the new talent here. I crunched some numbers shortly after that tutorial & given the "acquired" skill & a lil luck to complete a nice mold, I broke down & bought from smooth-on.com (great products) BTW most of the previous tutorial contributors were gracious enough to resupply me with another copy of the infamous "lost" tutorials. I simply haven't yet had the time necessary to restore them. I apologize for that. I did however attach this particular tutorial below.... brings back memories PS, I do remember hearing others had issues with the automotive (tube) type RTV curing completely also. siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf siliclam-mold.pdf
  23. Ahh.... ok. Lets see..... emotional attachment to your molds......... normal household items start looking like lure components..... yep your gonna fit in fine here

    POP???

Hey Randy, I had a buddy awhile back tell me they make a powdered drywall compound thats supposed to set/cure in 5-15 minutes........ ever heard of that stuff? Think it would be worth trying?
  25. Isnt that glaze supposed to be cured in the oven? You couldve flipped the mold & baked or mic'ed the plastic back out of the mold but I still doubt it would be usable afterwards (if it sticks now) Shame, but hey, a good excuse to make a better one.
