Should be good now, thanks for the tip.

Yup, thats where I looked, I checked behind every mag thinking it was hidden.....no dice. I'll find it, if not I'll backorder a ton of copies, Im proud of you fellas. I gotta go fix these smileys, we need em for this thread.

Theres a time limit to editing your posts, I think somewhere around 5 minutes after posting. Thats to prevent members from revoking thier discussions. Weve had some members become upset at mods, or other members & go back and edit/delete all thier posts in anger. That only causes problems for those participating in those discussions & renders them useless, so thats why theres a deadline. you should still be able to "append" to a post, or add to it, just not edit or remove it. email me or send me a PM letting me know which post in particular & I'll look at the permissions. The site is still being tweaked as we go along, so I might not be 100% correct on the current settings. All the best, Jerry "redg8r"

Ahh, poorly designed mathematics , least you included yourself . Actually, lets hold off until I can get some kinda permission from FLW or the article author. I'd recommend everyone go out & buy a copy to support those willing to shed some light on our efforts. I went to clean my local newstand out today, but ther were already out of copies If I get the go-ahead to display the full article here, we'll gladly do it, along with full credits to those who made it happen.

Hi Ian, The post was likely removed due to the language it contained, the site didnt censor it properly. I just now reset the censorship options so that it wouldnt actually display those words, so the thread has been restored. I personally dont have any problems with your slogan, but that dont make my views appropriate for everyone else, also this site host's all ages in accordance with the COPPA act, we have to censor or remove innnapropriate language. Your work looks good & good luck with your ventures.

Hey Lapala, Thanks for bringing the article, however I'm having trouble getting in via FTP also. I tried WSftp & Fireftp (firefox) The forum should allow you to post a PDF as an attachment. could you try that for us? Thanks, I went to grap a copy from Wally world on christmas eve. but they closed early & turned me away.

Tackleunderground was a 6 month client with a Miami based hosting company "BliksemHosting" This hosting company had a stellar reputation for quality service, support & hardware, even earning the webhost magazine "editors choice award" 2 years in a row. We signed up last May & have been relatively pleased. In early December, for unknown reasons, our hosting provider simply shut down thier service & walked away. leaving TU & hundreds of other hosting clients without service, support or the ability to retrieve thier data or daily backups as was promised in their service agreement. They currently cannot be reached via telephone, or email. There are also allegations of credit card fraud complaints by other clients who paid for service in advance. Our term was monthly & we were paid thru December without that month's service. With that said, I have filed a complaint with the BBB, filed a report with the federal internet crimes division & currently seeking a legal suit to obtain a court order to retrieve our data from the datacenter. Until then, unfortunately we are left in the wake with signifigant data loss, approximately 6 months worth of contributions. I estimate @ 600 TU members are without an account, All 1800 forum attachments are gone, along with @ 1300 gallery photos. I've researched & chosen the services of a well established datacenter (in business since 1995) with our new server located in a datacenter just opened in Lansing Mi. Those of you local to the area might be familiar with them from recent news coverage. To those of you who have lost your account, I sincerely apologize & beg of you to re-register & help rebuild what was lost. I apologize to ALL TU members for my lack of maintenance. Backups we're guaranteed, yes, but anyone running a website will agree that making periodic personal backups are part of the gig. Anyone needing assistance in rejoining, or anyone willing to resubmit to areas that were lost, eg; tutorial photos, gallery photos, etc, Feel free to use the contact form to get me directly. Note: the site still needs a little more work to get back up to speed, so you will notice some broken images (posticons, smileys etc,) those will be replaced. If you see anything else awry, please let me know. Thank you & Happy Holidays. Jerry "redg8r"

yep, we have about 6 hidden forums now, one being the KB tutorial forum, the CMS system we were using with phpbb (MX) would only post an announcement of the tutorial in that forum, the actual full data was stored in an add-on mysql table that MX threw into the phpbb database. Unfortunately VB will only import standard phpbb tables & didnt recognise the gallery or tutorial table made by the MX cms, so myself or another volunteer will need to retrieve each tutorial & repost it into the KB forum, then we'll pipe it into the VBcms for access from the homepage. Thats one great thing about the VBadvanced is that it dont alter or add to the original VB database, only reads. you wanna volunteer Del? winkwink

good thinkin, I'll look into that. Thats kinda the way it worked before, but only a trunctuated version was listed in the KB forum, the rest was in a separate DB table. Thanks for the tip. Jerry

I like it, let me get everything back to normal & we'll probably do that. Thank you for the recommendation.

Nope, all data is safe, I think the only thing we lost was the user avatars. I couldve retrieved those also, but it wouldve delayed re-opening the site. Like Del said, VBulletin is a great forum software, you'll find more features & eventually it will become a breeze to use the forum to its maximum potential. TU was hacked last week. I was avoiding switching software because transferring the data is usually a coin toss, but fortunately the VB developers made it relatively painless. The system has more features than the old phpbb board had without having to modify any of the code. The tutorials & photo gallery was a 3rd party software that VB doesnt yet recognize. so re-introducing them will take a little while, but will happen. I have a gameplan.

Start from the forum homepage: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/ Then you'll see all forums listed. I'll make site-wide dedicated links to each soon. any more questions/comments, let us know.

No, all photos are safely tucked away, Tutorials, news etc; also. They will be back soon, just need a little time to re-integrate everything. We might make yet another server move soon, Im getting weary of the slow page loads. we've done everything possible to shorten the load times, it seems to be beyond my control on this particular server.

Hi Craw, The Dupli-k8r is a set of plans for a jig I designed to help me duplicate my handcarved baits. I worked on the jig extensively about 3 years ago & it worked well enough. but needed refinement to be a safe & efficient machine. Last year I fiddled with it more & added another gearmotor to make it hands-free, other than loading & unloading the machine. Ive wanted to work more on the jig, but recent happenings in my life lately has kept me from my hobby, mainly starting a new custom cabinet company & breaking into a new market here in the Orlando area. I will get back around to working on the jig, someday To better answer your question, the plans were here for a $9 download when the site was first built (redg8r.com back then) but until the design is improved & made safer, I dont feel comfortable in releasing the plans. There is a post in the homebrew tools forum showing a second revision I made from a couple years ago, http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3003 Ive made more progress since then & when I get er figured out, I promise to keep everyone posted & hopefully everyone could help improve the design & make thier own, even better. Thanks.
