    Pictures??

new photo submissions are temporarily suspended. Weve accumulated over 500 megabytes of photos alone in the gallery. were working on a system of quotas to allow new photos, but not too many from any certain individual. We'll make an announcement when the photo gallery allows new uploads. Thanks for your patience. Jerry

  3. Sorry for the trouble, this issue has been addressed & fixed. any further issues, please feel free to contact us.
  4. All members take note that Tackleunderground.com will be unavailable Saturday & Sunday April 9th & 10th. for software upgrades. The forum uses a highly modified version of PHPBB & upgrading will take the whole weekend. Sorry for any inconvienence this may cause. The forum will be reopened no later than Monday April 11th. Other areas of the site may still be unavailable, but will come back online shortly after. We will send out a mass mailing to all users before & after the upgrade. Thank you, Jerry
  5. if you purchased Krylon primer & its spraying clear, then youre not shaking up the can before you start. Krylon dont make a clear primer. You likely purchased thier clear acrylic instead. Theres a way to check, shake the can, the primer has a marble in the can, the clear acrylic does not. Plastic lures are pretty simple, krylon primer would be fine. Krylon "Fusion" is made for plastics like polyethelyne & poly-resin plastics that are inherently "oily". Plastics used in injection molded lure bodies are mostly high impact acrylic, so "fusion" isnt needed or recommended because it takes quite awhile to fully dry.
  6. Theres a full demo, its X-Cart Pro http://www.x-cart.com/multi_vendor_demo.html
  7. Jim (Celticav) has been on a respite, taking care of some personal business. He has the donations from the jig swap. We can do some swaps, stay tuned.
  8. Hey, thanks for the generous thoughts fellas, actually the donation box here at TU is for the upcoming meet-n-greets in TN & MO, I'm sending TU swag (shirts/stickers/etc.) but funds will definately help the hosts make the events even better. We're still shooting for an annual convention around Okeechobee too. I actually scouted a perfect venue this weekend & looks great...but more on that later..... As for the member stores, We'll have to charge some sort of fee to members owning a store. We could do what we did for our webhosting clients by offering an advanced membership at a signifigant discount off the normal price. For example: A storefront would run, say, $10.00 a month..... if a member paid an advance of $20.00 he would have the first 4 months paid at a 50% discount, (= $5.00 a mo.) all new customers would have to pay the normal $10.00 a month. $100 would get 20 months..... & so on. Thats just an example, the prices could be slightly more or less, havnt crunched the numbers yet. We did this with our webhosting a couple years ago & a few of our members jumped on it & still enjoy great deals on thier hosting, eg; www.woodsaclures.com www.bettencourtbaits.com www.bobstackleshack.com www.persuaderlures.com www.bstackle.net & about a dozen others, the server stays full & we keep a waiting list now. That might be a good way to earn the software, What I can tell you about the software is [+] that it performs & functions much better than OSCommerce, [+] has a multi-vendor architecture that lets customers buy from different vendors at once while preserving your personal shipping methods, eg; one guy uses USPS weight based, another uses UPS flat rate, [+] the customer uses one shopping cart. [+] customers can also browse by individual stores, or search the entire mall. [+] Each vendor can customize thier own stores behavior. [+] Affiliate system & vendors can link thier shop to thier websites (for those of you who dont have carts or live, weight-based shipping rate capability) I almost have enough to get the software but I found a new supplier for our lure bodies & was gonna use the funds to re-stock & re-open the supply shop I need to clone myself....... & my wallet Oh, good mention on "Battle Of the Baits", that has been overhauled & is working very nice. I have the award ribbons & yeah, auctioning off the entry baits is a must, the baits from Larry's contest brought a pretty penny from collectors, the maker would keep the cash, of course. All I need is a fresh list of challenges to use, if anyone wants to submit one, PM or email me. Same if you want to do an advanced purchase for a slot in the mall.
  9. Probably so, since youre "old school" The Token system was a system we put in place when the site first started to encourage participation...... make a valid post or reply & earn a token. Tokens could be redeemed in the token shop for promotional items or services. We disabled the token system once we found more than a few members intentionally abusing the system. We will likely use the token system again, We'll be doing a site restructuring soon to fix existing issues & add more content to the site outside of the forum. This will require TU to go under the knife for a couple days (unavailable). We'll make an annnouncement & email all members prior. Creativetackle.com was a classifieds marketplace, users could post tackle for sell, or an angler could post a request to have something custom made for them. The software worked good thru beta testing but was very limited, so users declined to use it & we shut it down. Im looking for new replacement programs & have been for awhile. Theres one in particular Ive been researching & heard good things about, its basically a mall setup so each member could have thier very own store. but its gonna take $600 to get liscensed. If you're interested in using TU as a place to hawk youre stuff, use the poll above & if theres enough interest I'll push harder to get the software.

  11. It might be ok with your dremel.... I said might. Ive used them before on smaller motors, the issue is the wattage & load. Keep the switch itself away from any combustable materials because if anythings gonna fail, itll be the switch burning. Ive burnt a few As far as regulating a high wattage piece like a hotpot, fryer anything that generates good amounts of heat eats alot of wattage & will quickly fry the switch. good thought though, I wish it would work, id have tons of uses for em. PS. Dremel makes a var speed model, but if it works, it works
  12. pretty much..... Body filler is polyester resin with a carbonate type filler. Although I think most body filler catalysts use benzyl peroxide in a colored cream so you can distinguish a good mixture. havnt tried mixing it, what are you considering a "perfect consistency"? Actually Id like to find some poly resin with a waterlike viscosity so I wouldnt have to chase the bubbles out Id figure the filler helps eliminate some shrinkage since it absorbs some of the heat, but the tradeoff is workability, like household silicone compared to pourable RTV.
  13. Awesome fellas. Is that an anthem brush? good trade.
  14. Unfortunately thats been happening on eBay ince its debut. its happened to me & my wife many times. My best advise is to use a visible watermark over your photos. Its easy to do with most graphics software using a layer with a light transparency/opacity. Check the TU auction photos or photo gallery for an example, although I would put the watermark directly over the center of the image. While we're on this subject I wanna remind everyone that its not permitted to post your photos here on TU then hotlink them to another board/website. I know its "your" photo, but its stored here & the bandwidth costs money Were not a free image hosting service. Weve had this happen, many of whom simply didnt know any better, so no foul, hopefully it makes sense now. good luck
  15. Hi all, After quite a search, & a little bit of luck I wanted to introduce a new member to the forum. Mr. Rodney Long a.k.a "rockhopper" Rodney is a fellow tinkerer & independent inventor who brings many-many years of experience regarding the specific issues related to protecting, producing & promoting ideas into the fishing business. Mr. Long holds dozens of patents on products most of you are familiar with, including: The "Stand Out" hook, "Boomerang Fishing Pro", "Rig Saver", the Long Shot "Wiggle" rig, the "Rockhopper" (published in this months Bassmaster) and the "EZknot" tying tool, among others. I met Rodney through the recommendation of a highly regarded patent attourney & he holds Mr. Long in very high regard also. Ive spoken with him personally & can attest he's a standup guy & those of you here interested in business can learn alot. We'll call rockhopper our resident "patent advisor" & he's been nice enough to volunteer his time here at my request. He will be going back thru the forums & replying on any previous posts he can lend insight on. We put up a small Bio on Rodney: http://www.tackleunderground.com/index.php?page=25

  17. its not your plastic, you sound like youre heating it enough. The lines & clogged gate are from premature cooling of the plastic, I see youre in Maine, are your pouring in the cold, like in your garage? Aluminum wicks heat fast, only copper is faster, so my recommendation is if youre pouring in your garage, or if your molds arent at least room temp (@75deg.) then you should try & preheat your molds in an oven, not too hot to touch, but warm em up. once you get a few pours in the mold, the plastic should help keep the mold warm, but once you stop & the mold cools, youll wanna reheat em again. if youre pouring in a room-temp area, then it could be the way youre heating the plastic.

  19. Yes please clear your cache, (cookies not necessary) Ive removed the image so it should work after that. Let me know if you have further trouble. Jerry
  20. what web browser are you using to visit the site? I cant duplicate this problem in IE, Mozilla, Netscape, or Firefox. you using Opera? Regardless, I went ahead & removed the graphic from the forms. Thanks, Jerry
  21. The toolbar is the last item to load on the page (cant change that, its DHTML) the topsites ranking buttons we use on the bottom of the page sometimes load slow (not hosted on our server) which slows the menu to load. if you notice it happening, simply hit the "Stop" button on your web browser & the menu will appear immediately. if we have consistent trouble with the topsites buttons, We'll remove the offending ones. Thank you, Jerry
  22. Hi, you can add/edit your avatar from your account profile using the navigation bar up top of the website: Home >> My Account >> My Profile or: http://tackleunderground.com/board/profile.php?mode=editprofile As far as creating an avatar, theres tons of them available for free online, or maybe a generous member here can whip you up a custom one. Jerry
  23. I have a friend who has over $20,000 into a patent for an extension cord that wont kink or twist, its been 3 years & the patent still isnt final. Ive contacted a variety of bait manufacturers asking them thier take on how small time lure inventors can properly solicit thier idea to an established manufacturer. Im awaiting a response from Greg Garst of garst manufacturing, he can probably alleviate alot of concerns regarding proper design protection.
  24. Only that its amber clear & has a nasty smell very similar to PVC pipe cement. A few have tried the cement, including myself without success.
