  1. Yes, theres a clear base available with a few primary colors, mix & matche the pigments to produce tyour colors. MarshManiac, if tacklecraft dont have a website, how we gonna "google" em up to get a catalog? im confused
  2. Thats where the "other site" got its chart. Stamina I think.
  3. Heres one ive been workin on in urethane foam. Ive had this mold made before Rapala/Arbogast released thier cicada's.
  4. I'm not sure about snells, but Worth has a split ring assebler & a wire forming machine available. maybe an email to them will point you in the right direction. good luck
  5. believe ot or not mac10 but a company makes a similar concave disc that you can string on your line before the hook, i think its called a "wigglefin" Chirmy gave me a few of em years ago but I never got a chance to try em. his dropshot worms worked fine without any needed "wiggle" maybe you should try & make you a mold of a lizard with a concave mouth molded in. might be fun. Although I like modifying soft plastics myself, its an easy & quick fix compared to other bait styles. take care
  6. I attached a quick drawing, of my take on mac10's spittinlizards lemme know if you can see it brivera88
  7. Congratulations Toby!! Beautiful girl.
  8. Dont think so...... Sure the separation is the base, with the pigment settled in the bottom, but that happens with most suspensions. the base is full of some strong solvent, similar to PVC Glue, I'm not a chemist, but it has to be close. its none of the typical solvents we work with like thinner, acetone, MEK, etc. The base is also syrupy like corn syrup, so thiers likely a polymer in it too. Ive contacted every connection I know to renew the hunt, I'm awaiting replies. wish me luck.
  9. Slow down now....... I had trouble readin between the lines tryin to figure out what you posted. Are you sayin its pigment colors for mixing into household paint from the hardware store?? Do you have a brand name or type of packaging or any kinda name?? What did the hardware assistant call it? was it available for retail, or did you have to armwrestle an employee for it Thanks for the legwork on this, lemme know & i'll test it out, have you tried it yet? the clear base still eludes me........
  10. The smell could be from the scents in the remelts, Woodsac mentioned to me in an earlier post that a valve might not work. guess its true. I'm using a 1/4" rod with the end tapered. I drilled a hole using a countersinking bit to match the taper of the rod. My only worry is that the underside of the pot is flat, unlike the concave bottom of a lee pot. I'm wondering of the plastic will want to run underneath the pot, like water does on a flat surface. The aluminum pot is malleable enough to possibly shape into a slightly concave surface, but I dont wanna damage the elements. hmmm....
  11. Well..... My guess on the dyes, is that its the some form of the "paste dye" thats used in manufactured soft plastics. the MF & Lurecraft varieties are the same paste in a supension of some sort (this is my opinion only) as for the base, the smell of it is very similar to typical PVC glue, but pvc glue isnt comparable for the application, so I'm dumbfounded there also. By the way, I warned you he was a talker Hes a good fella, I should drive up & visit him sometime.
  12. are you tormenting us? or you just like to see us in anticipation? did you find a source? was it for the dye only, or the base also? be nice & do tell
  13. Hey Capn Mike, if you try that pot pictured above, lemme know how the ball valve on that thing works with your plastic, if it works good, I'll throw one on mine too.
  14. im just guessing but, 20-40rpm should be plenty, as long as the centrifugal force is low enough to allow the baits to "tumble" instead of sticking to the walls, it should work.
  15. wow you 2 posted the same time I did Good tips Larry! I like em. Definately wanting pics of any finished tumblers, I enjoy making things like these just as much as I like making baits. I might move this topic over to the "homebrew tools" forum if it goes anywhere.
  16. Not finished with mine yet, I took the feet off & mounted the pot up so I could get my molds under em. Ive been holding out trying to make an auto stirrer for it, but with the pull rod in the center, makes it rough. The heating element runs around the bottom edge, so thats the only place I could put it. I'll keep ya posted on new progress.
  17. Thats the same cooker I have I drilled mine in the center for a rod valve like whats on the lee pots.
  18. Hi, Problem with a frydaddy is that it dont have an adjustable thermostat. you can try, but I think you'll want one with an adjustable thermostat. good luck.
  19. This has been discussed, not sure if it was here though. Ive heard of builders using different containers & lining the inside with sandpaper. I intend to make one soon, as soon as I make room for one Someone even mentioned rigging one off of thier drying wheel & using the same motor for both. the only issue I saw was preventing the dust from reaching his drying baits on the wheel. for those of you wondering what the heck were talking about, its a sanding tumbler, kinda like those lapidary or rock polishing machines. its basically a container you put your rough baits inside, add some aggregate like silica, sandblasting grit, etc. & rotate the container to sand multiple baits at once. it'll take some trial & error to time your cycles, but it looks like a time saver if you need to sand wood bodies without alot of tiny detail. good luck with yours, keep us posted.
  20. There ya go....... post a pic when shes finished.

    compressors

Kellure, Yes, these are the types of hobby compressors your looking for, especially where noise is concerned. I have a Thomas Spray-it runs about 30psi & barely audible, bought it for $40 on ebay & was nearly new. since the pressure is already suited, a separate regulator isnt generally necessary. Boatnik, to help you out, just about any compressor your find will push an airbrush. airbrushes only need about 20-40psi to work & CFM isnt really an issue unless your spraying HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) guns. But these guns are better suited for automobiles, than baits.
  22. as for your domain emails, Id check to see if your site is blacklisted. Thanks for your diligent help guys, The ban was lifted on this server. After weeks of asking, you guys did it in about a day! But yes, as you said, many of our AOL members didnt get thier topic reply notifications, or private message notfication emails. Sorry about that, but it was out of my control. All is well now.
  23. No problem, make sure you add your colors the the cookbook, we might put all the submissions on a dedicated page sometime & we wanna make sure those are in there. Thanks for the contribution.
