  1. Staminainc.com & jannsnetcraft.com should have your stainless, Home Depot or lowes should have had your Lexan, maybe ask for "Polycarbonate" sheet, even though "lexan" is more memorable, its a trademark name & not always the exact brand they carry.
  2. Nice Colors, by the way.
  3. Hi Nova, Its only been about 6 hours since you first posted em Do me a favor & add your recipes to the "Soft Plastic Cookbook" thread located here: http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=721 That way theyll be listed with other recipes & easy to find fot those needing them. Thanks,

    spatula

True, Geeting the half-cooled plastic off the glass & back into the mix pains me sometimes, A spatula seems like the perfect tool. One thing to avoid using in your plastic is a wooden utensil, wood spoon, stir sticks, bamboo etc. when the wood gets hot it starts releasing bubbles into the plastic . ~boo
  5. Yeah I own quite a few members spinners & jigs that are coated in devcon. The good thing about rotating spinners & jigs is that you can get away with a smaller wheel & smaller motor. Maybe look into a piece of EVA foam to sink the hook into & mount the foam directly to the motor shaft & wha-la, drying wheel Ive seen these sold on Ebay, but havnt seen em lately.
  6. Hi, Tubes are a labor of love & takes some practice, but the good news is its not that complicated. If youve ever seen anyone dip a candle, the process is similar. read up in the forums on how to prepare/color/glitter & handle hot plastic (dangerous stuff) 1) Start with your hot plastic in a deep container, usually an inch deeper than the size of the tubes you wanna make. 2) Youll need some aluminum rods @ 1/8 to 1/4 diameter. I took some double the length I needed & bent them into an "L" shape & wrapped one end as a "handle" (electrical tape works) 3) Lube the rod with vegetable oil or worm oil & dip the rod into the plastic. let cool for about 10 seconds & repeat until satisfied. you might half to fenagle with the drips, but that comes with practice. 4) Remove the tube from the rod 5) Now for the labor part: after its cooled you gotta remove the tube & slice the end ionto a skirt using a razor blade. Some people came up with some creative "Tail cutters" but no matter how you do it, thats basically the way most of us hand dip tube baits.
  7. The bait dont look bad. good work so far. as to rounding the tail, I leave a flat on the tail @ the diameter of a pencil eraser, you could totally round it over if you want but I find a small flat helps me predrill for hardware. if your gonna go with screw eyes, always predrill & those pictured will need screwed in farther. as to plexiglass,..... avoid it, its acrylic & brittle & will crack easily. Go with Lexan (polycarbonate) if your putting screweyes thru your lexan lip, predrill the lexan also. Epoxy in the pilot holes before the hardware helps tremendously. hope that helps
  8. or Ronnie Lott....or Dana Stubblefield, or Roger Craig....... Sorry my wifes a 9'er fan, almost have the roster memorized.

    Creative Tackle

Droopy Sales, I suspect. I'll be workin on creativetackle soon to upgrade to better software. Stay tuned.
  10. Ahh, Chirm, I knew there was reason I liked you so much Yeah the Bucs folded mid season, so I was pullin for the underdog (as usual) Actually just tired of seeing NE in the bowl (no offense to the Pats fans, they rocked this year) From 1-15 to Super Bowl Attendees in one year, Carolina had my pull. Definately a great game. Closer than I was expecting. Although I missed the Janet fiasco during halftime Feels depressing now, kinda like the day after christmas. By the way, TU stats showed yesterday as one of the sites least visited days, guess everyone was watching the game Who looks good for next year? you guys wanna do a football pool next season?

    Slow

    is this a persistent problem??
  12. Alright Larry! Good to see you dabbling in some soft plastics! good work.
  13. Nice maribou tube Glaucus! Looks so good it might be worth the work, but ive used the "Pro's soft bait glue" mentioned in here & it might speed up your process. I'm not sure how you'd do it without closing the hole on the tube, but the glue will adhere just about anything to soft plastic.
  14. Honestly, I dont trust the adhesive on any color eyes, from any maker. I use the adhesive long enough to hold them in place for a topcoat over the bait, eyes & all. No worries after that. If you clearcoat your baits I'd do it after you've added the eyes. take care,
  15. I dont have the name of a site that makes the paint, only an aquaintence out of Tampa: http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=421&highlight=paint Careful, He's a talker
  16. The pigments at artstuf.com is for cold casting resin. not saying it wont work but its a dry pigment powder. The pigments I have are like a paint, suspended in something. Heres a pic of the paints I have Finlander, maybe this will help. The bottles are polyethelene & the pigments are in a clear acrylic container.
  17. a couple (2) tablespoons should be right for about 5 ounces of silicone (half tube) I should really look into standardizing the ratio, but unfortunately the special effects forum where Riverman & I found this technique is no longer online so I cant contact anyone more knowledgable, so its trial & error until we get it figured out. feel free to post your findings as you come across em. thanks
  18. Oh what our ladies put up with I remember seeing a guestbook entry on funnyfarms website, from his girl, she said something like: "Funnyfarm, please come take your lures out of the kitchen, the dishes dont wanna play with them anymore"
  19. uh-uh, the shad bodies dont float they have internal rattles that help weight em & make noise. Yeah we can get those lips, keep an eye on the shop to see if/when we get em. thanks
  20. yup, judging by the quarter in the photo (approx 1" dia.) you wanna move that line tie back at least 1/2 an inch. Take a look at the shad bodies in the tackle supply shop (here) you'll see the line ties are just forward of the mid back. These type of baits will run "head down" but its a great lure style. shaping the lure to have a "flat head" forward of the line tie will also give water resistance & help the lure's action, like a lip does. Good luck Wade.
  21. I'm picturing a nice "tribal" design that swirls around & meets at the nipple Reminds me of the time I thought water based food coloring would make a nice addition to my hot plastic.......... picture pouring water into a hot deep fryer....yeah the kitchen walls had nice new green speckled finish. I didnt care about my face & arms cause I knew the wife was gonna kill me
  22. polyethelene bottles are good for solvents, glass, metal.
  23. I'm pretty sure Noel said 2:1 (2 parts MEK to 1 part Clear Base) then add a few drops of the pigment to attain the color you want. You can brush it on, dot it on, however. If you wanna spray it, Id thin it to 4:1 to make sure its viscous enough to pass thru your gun. The "reply" button is kinda close to the "Tackleunderground.com Forum Index" link, maybe you accidentally clicked that. Other than that I really dont know
  24. Oohh, I think your gonna need those pigments, Theyre alot cheaper than the base itself, Id call him back. He called them something like "DLP" (Dispersal ??? Pigments) I did a web search & came up empty. I know acrylics wont work (already tried) but maybe a solvent based paint would work (lacquers) but Im just guessing. if you find something that works, please pass it on, I'm talking to a couple of people about finding more of this stuff & more info on it. but its going slow.
