    Epoxy

lol, yup, I feel your pain, but the finish is rewarding. I've had a recent job change & have the great opportunity of utilizing a huge walk-in spray booth & play around with various finishes & stains. I've ran across a 2 part varnish you might like, I havnt researched it very well yet, but it is a clearcoat calle "krystal" it's an epoxy type finish that has a 10:1 mix with a catalyst. I'ts very sprayable (is that a word? ) Anyway, it dries completely in about 10 minutes, but can be stored in a sprayer for about 4 hours before it sets up (strange huh?) After get a lil better rapor with the boss, I'm gonna spray a few baits to check for durability, Its an interior/exterior grade topcoat & used on countertops, so it's definately a candidate I'll keep ya posted. redg8r

    Epoxy

Sorry, But 2Ton Is the best I've tried for durability & gloss. I've tried all the off brands too, Devcon for some reason has the best clarity. Why do you dislike rotating the baits? is it the time involved in doing it, or just dont have something to rotate em with? How are you doin it now? I've seen a few nifty contraptions for rotating jigs. lemme know if ya need pointers on building one. redg8r
  3. I know a guy, I'll email you his email addy. He's making his knife handles with the dupli-k8r redg8r
  4. Ahem.... Not to toot my own horn....but thats my 3rd win TOOT TOOT Thanks guys & especially you Larry, if theres anything further the staff here at TU can do to help the competition, let me know. Regards, Jerry "redg8r"
  5. do the snaps youre usin have a rounded shank, or the offset "v" type shank? If the latter, it could be that the momentum holds the line eye down to the bottom of the "v" possibly making for a more controlled action. I'm more of a straight "line-2-eye" type a guy myself, so take it w/ a grain of salt. is the action really that much different?, must be a pretty finiky design you usin urethane plastic? redg8r
  6. Great resource Gene! Is that your site? very nice work, I'm envious. redg8r
  7. lol, way to be there Dave I'm looking for the createx brand, got any links or sources? Walmart & Kmart carries a brand from Krylon called "Mystique" It's a 3 can "kit" that comes with a black base, chameleon colr & clear topcoat. it's solvent based but goes over acrylics pretty well. Use it last because acrylics dont like to go over the coat afterwards. They have many different colr variations, my favorite is gold/purple/green the color changes from those 3 depending on the reflection of the light. Theres also a source on ebay, do a search for RC car paints, they have the "color" only, for about $7.00 per 10 oz. just use on a flat black base. I would like to find the createx brand, because its water based, correct? redg8r
  8. Congrats on placing! I posted a new tutorial in the soft plastic area of the tutorials section. take a look. Might help those accustomed to 1-part molds, make a full rounded bait. I have at least 2 other tutorials concerning the silicone, 1 part & 2 part. Oh & BTW, I second the notion of seeing that "girly color" you have no excuses here, Image uploads are readily available. redg8r

    Hi-lites

You guys got me droolin I wanted to chime in your notice of hi lites not showing well on white & pearl color.... I've been playin around with the "chameleon" automotive paints for my hardbaits & I've noticed a correlation, If you dont spray a dark (preferrably black) basecoat first, the irridescance or color reflection wont show. Maybe it has similar effects with the powder you guys are usin. I've used it to my advanage, where I can spray the whole bait with the color change paint & it will only show on dark areas, such as tiger stripes & such....neat effect. Where do you guys gettin your powder? Thanks, redg8r
  11. Hey RM, Its been 80+ degrees here for weeks Good luck on your early am trip. redg8r
  12. Hey, Alright.....Dave's in the house!
  13. Hi Nate, I actually thought of this as I made the forum for it, but IMO A hybrid lure could be a few different things but I figure your "Assasin" fits the bill nicely....A jointed crankbait with a soft plastic tail. If fellas dropped by with ideas or pics of baits they couldnt quite pick a forum to put em in, this one's the place for it. redg8r
  14. You guys rock..... I'm gettin all choked up Dont stop at bumper stickers, I've been researchin ALOT & have found lots of stuff that fits the bill, look for a new post in the "General Questions" forum, for a list of stuff I have on the way. As far as other promotions, gimme your thoughts in the Mod Forum, we can be more descript there & make some sorta gameplan, if you like. Yeah I can shell out the points, but I'm very stingy can any of you click on the "tackle tokens:" text to the left? once we get rollin, you'll have the ability to manage & award tokens also. Thanks guys, the above posts has already made it worth the effort. Enjoy it, its yours. redg8r

    Im here

Thanks Chirm, Yes a great group, Actually the mods are the "fathers" of this site, This site is an accumulation of these guys needs & ideas. I'm just the instrument that made it happen. The direction & growth of the site will lay in thier hands & the whole community in general. As to your offer, you bet. I've actually thought of implementing a directory of field testers for our creations, there would have to be an assurance of feedback from the tester, of course I know you will, good or bad. What do you think, would that be a good idea? No contests yet, but I have it in mind, you are welcome to judge if needed Thanks for being here Tim, now tell Chris to get his butt in here Good luck in your Tourney, let me know how it goes. redg8r
  16. Thats some vegetation I brought up with the fish The fish is a Talapia (I think) I see em all the time, they spawn like crazy, but you can never get em to hit a bait, I was surprised when this one took it. they also have some decent teeth, noted by no fingers in his mouth redg8r
  17. lol.....he said "hard bait" sorry, I'll delete this (my) post later....if you dont beat me to it Caught a coupla fish yesterday on chirmy's lizards...check em out.
