  1. A quick preview of a well deserved & overdue update to the TackleUnderground website. The blue & gold pays homage to the way the site looked almost a decade ago. Those of you familiar with the wayback machine can have a look if you have time to burn & like a stroll down memory lane, (or a good laugh, perhaps). The change should take effect in the next day or two, simply be aware. A few small notes worth mentioning is that this update will temporarily remove a couple features and improve others: The "Status Updates" feature will be temporarily removed until it can be reimplemented site-wide. Chat (shoutbox) will be down and soon replaced with an improved (actual) chatroom. More on that later. The site navigation menu will be changed to condense links and improve overall navigation. Any comments or concerns are always welcome.
  2. Our ever growing member submitted classified ads section now has a dedicated section located HERE. Registered members are free to list items for sale, unload unwanted and used products, or create a wish-list of items you need to hone that perfect fish catcher! Previously hosted in our forums, it's popularity calls for a dedicated spot here on TU. The new area is purposely small and direct, offering a simple "For Sale" & "Wanted" section. We look to expand categories and maintain it according to user feedback so if you have any input, feel free to reply with suggestions. Click here to view the article

  4. There are a few different varieties. Ive got a feeling you have one that auto-drains. If it has no valve to turn on the bottom, its an auto drain. They work by having the lines air pressure seal the collection bell, then when pressure is lifted (or turned off) the spring forces the valve open to allow collected water to drain. If youre running on low pressure, it might not be enough to force down the valve and results in air leakage. A solution is to increase air pressure and add a regulator on down the line to reduce to a lower psi. If thats not the case it could be an inferior or defective twist valve. One way to check it is to increase pressure then push the valve in to see if it releases air, if it does, then it's functioning correctly. Good luck w/ it.
  5. Sure, but the dimensions are relative to the heating element I found. The base is @ 16' square, the box is @ 12" square, 4" deep with a 2" hole for the vacuum hose. The platen is @ 13' square to allow 1/2" overlap onto the box. Hope it helps.
  6. Done deal..... carry on.
  7. Bulldog clamps, they're household spring loaded clamps used to hold mops & brooms up off the floor. All parts are hardware store items, minus the heating element. Some MDF, Pegboard, aluminum angle, metal conduit, etc; A correction, I posted PETG, I think its PET. Good question, I don't know the mil, but I'll throw a caliper on it for you, gimme a sec. I've formed polystyrene up to .060 and 3/32. It should do 1/8 inch too (I know, your lovin the imperial measurements)
  8. Vacuformer minus vacuum (Shop vac works fine) Theres a 2" dia. hole in the back to plugin the hose. Platen to hold the PETG film Platen and heating element A finished pull Stencils ready for cutout Lemme know if you have questions, I tried re-editing the video, but it was chopped up beyond edit due to it being broadcast live. Maybe I'll find time to reshoot a little segment explaining its use when I can. Thanks for the interest.
  9. Cool, found the chart, Thanks David: http://www.tackleund...http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/8904-eye-size/
  10. Printable size charts aren't the most reliable,.... were you looking to print out the chart and hold or compare it to the eye? It would seem just as easy to grab a caliper or ruler and measure the eye diameter. Some suppliers start at 3mm. and work their way up, mil by mil, standards usually start at 3/16 and go up 16th. from there. If your asking for metric/standard conversion of a certain diameter, let me know.....That would actually be a chart worthy of printing and a little fun debate.
  11. Hi Guys, The problem is your current screen resolution. Rayburnguy, your screenshot looks like your PC is set to 800x600 pixels. Try increasing your screen resolution, I think you will be pleased. Less than 10% of the population uses such a small resolution. I have attached a screenshot below to compare the difference: This site (and most others) have been optimized to be viewed at 1024 pixels or wider. You can see statistics and test your screen resolution on a variety of other sites at the following URL: http://www.screen-re...http://www.screen-resolution.com/common-screen-resolutions.php
  12. Thank you gents, Had a good day, I appreciate the kind words. And, glad to be back in Kentucky, the Appalachians are always home for me.

    Tu Get Together

It was a blast! Nathan & Deb, Fantastic hosts as always. I don't think any of us can explain the amount of knowledge shared during these meets. A few of us described it as TU on steroids. I want to thank all of you guys who jumped in front of a camera like that and shared your tips. You guys did such a great job with such little direction and preparation. Obviously the video itself can and will be improved, but now at least we know it can be done, so we'll work on that. I'm disappointed I didn't record that video introduction, as it was a great intro by Nathan & Deb, but I'll record something and add it to the video list. We dedicated the 2010 event to our fellow members who passed away this year and to a fellow member who couldn't attend due to illness. I've been slowly editing the video's taking out background noise and adjusting audio to make it more understandable, not mention when I was interviewing Tim Hughes, I called his colleague Jeff Thompson, "Jeff Hughes" I think we should preplan an auction or benefit to raise $ for future meets to cover food and drink, and thank you to those who pulled it together this year and prior. The food is worthy of the travel in itself!! There is photos from earlier events in the Gallery, anyone with pics from this year can add to it, I'll be making a dedicated page here on TU for events and video As I get them edited & reposted. Cant wait till Clinton 2011!! Hope to see everyone there. Jerry

  19. Hi All, Testing went well at Bettencourt Baits. Looks like we'll be doing some live video from the Bettencourt Shop on Saturday May 1st. 1:00pm Central time. The feed will be available on the TU homepage along with live chat to take your questions, so drop in and join us!
  20. Hi Phil, Nathan is scheduling the feed for sometime Saturday. I'll be setting up for the feed Thursday & Friday to make sure we have a good enough connection to make it happen. So, if we can pull it off, I'll post an announcement & link and have it hosted here on TU. I know you are across the pond, so if you can't catch it live, we'll be putting the webcasts up later so they can be seen on demand afterwards. lemme know if that needs clarification.... Hope you can make it next year, enjoyed meeting you there.

2 reasons, even if the topic was permitted it was posted in the wrong forum where the effort is made by moderators to be moved to the appropriate forum. We have a constant problem where members think for example, since they make soft plastics, any topic under the sun goes into the soft plastics forum, even though they're only looking for used rims for their jeep. 2nd. your topic is using the luremaking forums for soliciting business, if it wasn't business related it would be acceptable in the classifieds. Now put yourself in the shoes of those who support TU by taking out ad space to sell their 3D lure eyes. Now ask yourself if you would be happy if another member could come on here and freely solicit their own supply stock choices from their customer base. I never received a PM or email questioning the decision or I would've replied. ..... Moving this topic from "Soft Plastics" to the "The Docks" forum, forgive us if we don't contact you and explain why. Anything else we can assist you with, feel free to ask. Have a good day.
