I had a few tube spinnerbaits and tube buzzbaits A few years back. I think the company went out of business. I would like to make some of both baits. Any info on making them would be helpful. Thanks

I`m looking for spinner blades that Mepps uses in there Thunderbug. I`ve tried dakota blades, but they don`t work as well as the Thunderbug blades spin and react. Any info would be appreciated very much. Pabasser

I would like to make a version of these baits. Does any one know if they use a single clevis or a dbl. clevis? Any info would be greatful for.

I bend hooks using my Little Blue Bender. I don`t heat the hooks. As others have said you have to test the hooks from different companies. Every once in a while I still get a few hooks that break,but not often.

I`ve bent hooks for years. I first started bending hooks because I couldn`t find any small fineese size worm hooks. So I took my little blue bender and started bending hooks the way I wanted them. I still do this even now. I might snap off a few hooks bending them, but the outcome is worth it. Also when I catch a fish on the bent hooks, I have never had any brake or snap. PaBasser

Great tutorials guys. I will be making some of those spinnerbaits myself. I also have one of those spinnerbaits,it was in my grandfathers lures, that was past down to me.

I want to thank donkjc2 with all your help on the fluid bed building process. It took me awhile to get it. I guess ( I`m thick headed at times) I`m going to build my own fluid bed tomorrow. Only one more question, How big does the lexan have to be ? I see in your pictures it sticks way out past the fluid bed. Thanks, PaBasser:yay:

I used to use wire to tie my skirts on jigs and spinnerbaits before there were skirt collars. I used craft wire, wrapped the wire around the jig or spinnerbait twice, then put skirt on. Wrapped the wire about three more times, then bend wire at tag end together, wrap it around three or four times. Cut wire then bent it over using my plyers, against the skirt. When wrapping wire around jig or spinnerbait wrap wire in both directions (lay wire down, put jig or spinnerbait in the middle of the wire, grab tag end from each side and pull across each end going around the lure, keep doing this until you get the desired wraps on lure. Then put skirt on and do the same until desired wraps. Wrap tag ends together bend over with plyers and your done. I did this for years with no problems at all. You get faster as you do it more and more. Keep your wraps tight together and for a smoother finnish. I cut strips of wire before I started to wrap wires onto lures. Length of strip depended on lure size, just experement on lenghts of the wire until you find you don`t have alot of excess of wire when you cut tag end. Don`t pull wire real tight after wrapping skirt because it will cut skirt, but make it tight enough so skirt doesn`t slide out. You can put epoxy or glue over wire when done wrapping, and then you are done. Hope this helps you. PaBasser

My biggest thing that bugs me is time. People think I have all the time in the world when it comes to making lures. They ask how long will it take me to make them some, then say they need them tomorrow. We all must have the same village idiots. The other thing that bugs me is my wife, she doesn`t mind me making lures or the time and money it costs. She only wishes she could get her microwave, toaster, small pans, and her spandex pants back ( which made great skirts, one of a kind.) PaBasser
