I got a bad batch of flex coat awhile back , did the same thing . I havent had that problem with etex , but it could be . Are you sure you used 1:1 of each ? Yeah I have done that before , had a batch not set up and look at my bottles and notice the one was way less than the other one . I dont know why I just admited that .

Wood lure body find , I havent seen this - ever
funny farm replied to funny farm's topic in Hard Baits
yeah I have a pile of oldies that need redone . I guess I dont really "collect" them , I just have to many and havent painted them yet . But then on the other hand i can never use the last few of a body style that i have bought a bunch of , so I guess i should just come out and admit that i do collect them . I have a professional plating machine also which I can replate the hardware . .those bodies above are making some real cools little lures so far . -
How many are ya looking for ? I have around 25 or so I belive in stock still .

floats maybe , but they have glue on the peg and inside at the end of the peg . the pegs arent tapered as i belive floats would be . But hey maybe the guy running the tapered peg machine messed up and drilled them non tapered so they had to make them lure bodies , I have made a "few" error induced design changes due to a lil boo boo KcDano - you collect the lure bodies also ? I have a bunch of Herters bodies as well , they did put out alot of diffent bodies . I have a bag of plastic ones that are shaped like lil fish that are numbered 1-99 -
Ok for those that know me I am a wooden lure body junkie , if i see them i buy them , any old new doesnt matter . I have 1,000's in my shop , boxes full from the 20's on through a few small lure companies i have bought there remaining bodies from . Anyway I have never seen some like this before . I added some pics to show them . They are all identical , these were not hand made . I started drilling the back of them for hardware and after drilling a few i noticed how soft the wood was after drilling about 3/4 inches , after looking at the back of the plugs i noticed that perfectly centered in all of the plugs it looked as if they had been drilled out and a different wood replaced . so i had to cut one in half . all of these have been drilled out and then a wooden plug put back in the hole leaving a hollow chamber . and these plugs are perfectly centered in the back , some body loved these guys . i am sure it was machine made but they are old so someone liked this hollow body for a reason . Maybe i am just excited over nothing but thought i would show these to you . there is a glob of glue on the inside on the end of the plug . and a good sized hollow section . cant tell what kind of wood it is but they are light . the front is almost at a point so i am guess maybe it was a diver because it would be too hard to get a screw eye in the small tip of the lure . and like i said the plug holes are all perfectly centered , I mean dead on , maybe this is how they were turned after the hole was drilled ? who knows ? anyone ?

This is a repaint job from one of my good customers that fishes ALOT . And yes she uses my big ol lures to fish with as well for musky and pike . Any way I was going to prep this guy for his paint job and looked at the lip . a few she sent to me have wear marks from where the connecting link has rubbed , well more than wear marks they are all groved , how much trolling does it take to do that ???? Just found it interesting and i wish i could fish that much

Jed , good idea here , just send them to me while you wait for him

the post office returned one of my packages cause now aparently you have to fill the address label out in all caps to canada . I have had stuff take weeks to get there like 3 or 4 before . not always but not uncommon . And about the feedback retaliation I do not leave feedback unless they do first , unless its something i bought or one of my regulars , but as a seller i wait till they do in most cases

I actually read the info in the box of etex and I know there are always questions to how long it takes to set up so here it is. TEMP ----- DUST FREE ----- HARD CURE 70 f -------- 4-7 hours -------- 72 hours 80 f -------- 3-6 hours -------- 48 hours 90 f -------- 2-5 hours -------- 36 hours I have been running an electric heater in my airbrush room for the last month or so and it has made a difference on my curing times and paint drying , also I have a very low humidity in there as well .

I havent seen any thing like it and i shop old lures alot on ebay , I take it its plastic ?
-
good stuff , I shall try them all . I just think the 3d eyes are to 3d for some of the smaller plastics , thanks again !
-
Very cool !! I like these colors !
-
So whats your alls secret to painting the eyes on plastice lures with out the recession for the 3d ones ? like rapala and bagley and that type of eye ?

I get at least 5 of these a week . I dont bother . I used to when i first got them but I found most of them to be bogus , phone numbers that werent correct , no such school ect . The good news is I , toby , do accept lure donations !!!! So if you feel like you need to give some away to a poor humble lure maker just let me know Did that tug at your heart strings ? huh

I call it my new shop monster light , I havent named him yet . I went to my storage unit tonight for some stuff to sell on ebay and this light was next to the trash . It is right next to my door and is really about 7 feet tall if not a little bit more . It came with the rewd lights and they all worked , they are heat lamps not just red bulbs , I could feel the heat from this thing 8 feet away when i took the picture . Each lamp has its own on/off switch and it has a heavy gauge wire cord so i know it was meant to be used with high wattage bulbs . plus its chrome and thats nice . just thought I would share . I like free stuff , especially something of use . I am not shy to dumpster dive , hey i make lures for a living . PS the lights all move on flexable shafts

first off can I move into your hobby room ? Thanks in advance . I am lucky enough to have a window in my airbrush room so I run my line outside to my craftsman 6hp 30 gallon compressor , overkill , hehehe . I did build a house for it to sit in , kinda like a dog house with insulation . It was very loud at 300 in the AM for the niebors till i boxed it in . Maybe you could do this with yours in your room ?

Createx auto air , HOK , dupont - those are 3 of my favorites
-
I have thinned epoxy before . I found it not worth it . I brush mine one al the time now . I used to thin it with alcohol .
-
LOL Dink there are many many different sealers that wok well , the krylon is good stuff and readily avalible . I dip most of my big wood baits in thined primer , but when I do the crank baits i do spray them cause dipping the little cranks is to thick for them . And as for the clear if you read through the board there are several posts about the different clears . There is one hell of tutorial on using flex coat , that guy is good !!! hehehehe

What kind of airbrush do you use?would you trade it in?

I have and have always liked best my badger 155 anthem . I have had 3 pashcee vl thingys and didnt like them . everyone else loves the pashcee vls .the anthem goes real fine and real wide , one size needle , one size tip . I am sure a pashee vl lover will chime in soon It is basicly what you get used to i think , I spray every thing from epoxy , primers , water based paints and automotive clear coats with the same airbrush . -
This is my baby . I have been using it for years now which equals thousands of split rings . They are made by berkley . They came in a set with a fish scale and some other stuff . Splits rings are my least favorite thing to do . These do real small ones also .
