  1. Have several of both pots...inside diameter on the small one is about 3", about 4" on the big one.
  2. Can you tell it has been a busy fall/winter? Should have pics of some of the spinrites up tomorrow (today, I guess).
  3. If confused on a color just give them a call. They have always been able to help me sort through the color charts. Also helps to keep a Barlows or Living Rubber Co catalog handy when looking at the Skirts Plus colors. The color pics in the Barlows, or the on-line Living Rubber colors are basically the same as the Skirts Plus.
  4. thanks for the link to the taxidermy site...only spent a minute or 2 there and can already see some ideas hatching.
  5. Looks like a good start. Feel free to shoot me some mail if you have any Q's or issues with the RTV. If those are proto's have a good slick finish you should be in good shape.
  6. Should have plenty of torque, as the plastic should be pretty thin if you have it at a good working/pouring temp. Probably a huge mess to use on any plastic that had not completely melted or had started to cool. Looks like it might be a little big for a hot pot.
  7. An old hair dryer works as well. Might be a little safer than the torch.
  8. Battlefield Wire: http://www.buzzblade.com/Buzwords.html
  9. Try searching yahoo for "Battlefield Wire". They are in the Springfield, MO area...sell blades, buzz blades, spoon blanks, etc. Will try to find and post their web address from my address book.
  10. I move the paint into "rubbermaid" type containers, then bend the wire at the head to provide an angle suitable for dipping. Hold the heated bait by the line tie. Do not worry too much about the hooks, can just clean off any unwanted powder before curing the bait. I only use 1-color heads, think you could probably just sprinkle on a second color.
  11. Nope. That project has sort of been on the back burner, may get to it this spring (I hope).
  12. Ditto on Shorty's. Need a tax ID to get the best pricing.
  13. If you have a hard clearcoat on the raw head, you could use a Createx base coat white, followed by one of there chameleon colors (blue, green, gold, etc...). I have done some heads for white flipping jigs that way.
  14. Like my two year old said after seeing Finding Nemo..."Ooh, scared me!" Was that one of those micro-brews?
  15. Powder paint would seem to be the obvious choice for your requirements. Which colors are giving you problems? Some of the colors (black, esp) are pretty sensitive to preheat temperature. You might try a batch preheated quite a bit lower than the suggested temps (maybe 250-300). Make sure you clean out your hook eyes before curing the paint. Vinyl does require at least one layer of clear to get a good shiny finish. Fairly durable, but much less durable than powder paint. Spraying vinyl works well on spinnerbaits, but dipping is usually quicker for leadheads. Fumes are a problem, and it can also really gunk up an airbrush.
  16. I mask with blue painter's tape and remove before applying any clearcoats. Don't like painting before cutting lip slots, mostly because I apply my paint in several layers, clearcoating between particular colors. Think with my method it would make chipping or cracking of the finish and paint more likely. I also like the way a good final clearcoat fills in and smooths out the small gaps around the lip slot that remain after installation of the lip.
  17. I ordered a bunch of wood from Solarbo...very happy with the prices, shipping, and quality.
  18. Tim, Did you sort of think they were just testing you? Strange bait...kind of like a cat toy or christmas ornament with hooks. Any deep fish turning on at the Rock?
  19. Q: How many fingers am I holding up? After the bandsaw, that is.
  20. Poured my first spinrites in the new do-it mold last night. Very simple to do, hardest part is bending the wire form. Went pretty well using a QUALITY pair of round bend pliers, and a stock tailspin wire form as a pattern. Will post pics when I have some put together. This is a very nice production series mold. It is cut so you can pour with regular tailspin forms, or custom forms, without modifying the mold in any way. Before seeing it, I thought the mold would have to be hit with a dremel...happy this was not the case.

    Balsa grain

I only practice voodoo at work, and only on prescription insurance. Sorry to hear about the bait, good news is it caught a nice fish! My Devcon problems have been while the baits were just sitting in boxes, for the most part. ***I only stick pins in new Normark/Storm baits...at least since they jacked up the wart.

    paint

I use powder on heads, and don't paint blades. Faster to buy them painted, may add some FC clearcoat and flake then spin on the turner for a while. Powder is a little awkward but works well. Would have to go with vinyl for spraying.
  23. I think tequila is flammable, but I really don't remember.

    Balsa grain

Also a caution in the FC instructions about contact with porous materials, ie: wood. Still think you need to seal the wood in some way, but will admit I am still learning on the balsa baits.
